“Moonlight” lacks a bass part, but instead of creating a sense of emptiness in the track, Kingsgate shows his talent by still being able to make the song still sound full but uniquely light at the same time. The vocals are light as well and with his awesome production makes the simple lyrics of “Kiss me under the moonlight” makes the listener catch on to the chorus easily. Kingsgate inserts reverb and cool electronic beat that eventually progresses into a snare/clapping sequence which helps build up the verses leading into the very light drop that makes you anticipate the next verse.
We had the chance to talk with Kingsgate, to learn more about him and his music journey.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers? Can you give us a brief history of your musical career?
Hi I'm Kingsgate. I'm an Electronic/Dance producer from Seattle, and I love to make music. I started out as a little kid, writing rock songs on this guitar that my Dad got me, but for years I was frustrated that I couldn't record myself and listen to the songs again later, so that's when I started producing my own songs and realized the beauty of EDM. In rock there was so much of the same sound over and over again. Guitar. Bass. Drums. That's it. But in EDM there are so many indescribable sounds that every song felt new and different, like something I'd never heard before.
That's still why I make EDM.
How did you come up with your name? Is there a meaning behind it?
Kingsgate is the name of the neighborhood I grew up in. My friends and family live there, my school was there, my first job was there. Kingsgate still plays a big part of my life. And so by naming myself after the neighborhood I grew up in, I'm paying tribute to all the people that made me who I am today.
Do you write your own music? Can you tell us a bit about your writing style?
I do write my own music, and it all starts with making a sound or two original sounds. I like to take just a few main crazy ones, and build a whole song around them that hopefully turns into something that I know people would want to hear.
We’re really into your new song! Can you tell us a bit about it? Where did the inspiration behind the song come from?
The first sound I made in Moonlight was that loud, chopped-up vocal that's in the chorus. I layered it with some strings and gave it some compression, and I knew I had a sound that no one's ever heard before. I layered it with some drums and some chords, and the whole song sort of came together. It turned out better than I had hoped. Moonlight is a fun song that you can dance to, while still having completely original elements that you could only get in a Kingsgate song.
What’s next for you?
These next few months are going to be BIG. I have plenty of new music on the way and a lot more shows scheduled. I have a whole new interactive setup that'll help me put on an incredible live show. And new management that I'm really excited about. I can't wait for you all to hear it, I'm so excited.
