Congratulations on the release of, “High Heels.” You paint such a vivid image in the lyrics! What inspired the story in this song?

Hi! Thanks so much for having me! So “High Heels” was inspired by the battle we go through in life when we are facing a difficult time. I was playing guitar one day and I came up with the main riff of the song and after that, I started building the rest of the song around it. When I started thinking about what the melody of the song should be, the chorus started writing itself and I knew exactly where I wanted the song to go. I was very inspired by an unreleased song called “Life” by The Wrecks and also by “Kiss This” by The Struts during the time that I wrote this song and I think those influences came out during the writing process.

With performing being a huge part of your life, how have you been adjusting to the newfound performance world?

It certainly has not been easy. Performing is my favorite thing to do and I miss it so much. I think in a strange way, social media has helped me a lot. I love filming videos of both original songs and covers and posting them and I think filing these videos has certainly helped me get the bug out a little bit. I also have really been pouring myself into writing and creating music so that when I am finally able to perform again I have a solid show to put on.

How have you come to find the signature sound that you’re offering up to your audience? What does your creative process entail?

I don’t really know if I ever “found” my sound necessarily which sounds so strange but I think my sound has just always been authentic to me. I grew up on bands like Boston, Cheap Trick, Queen, Van Halen, Tom Petty, and The Goo Goo Dolls and I think those influences have always been very apparent in my music ever since I started writing and playing music. I try to write songs and melodies that are real and that people can relate to. Most of my songs are about real situations in life that we all face and I try to take those topics and put my own spin on them. Usually, my writing process starts with the guitar and then I build the rest from there. I try not to put pressure on myself to write a certain thing at a certain time. I often just sit and jam on my guitar with no pressure or strings attached to it and usually, that leads to a chord progression or riff that I haven’t played before, and that usually inspires me and gets me to write something authentic.

What are you hoping that your listeners take away from, “High Heels?"

I hope that listeners can feel empowered when they listen to “High Heels”. Now more than ever, it is so important to cling to the people around us and lean on each other for support. With mental health declining due to everything going on in the world, it is becoming significantly easier to fall into a dark place. “High Heels” serves as a reminder that clinging to hope and loved ones in those times is extremely powerful and can often be the thing that elevates us from that dark place. I want people to walk away from the song with new confidence and the feeling that they can conquer anything.

What can we expect to see next from you throughout 2021?

More music and more content! I want to keep creating as much as I can this year and releasing as much music as possible. Hopefully, there will be at least one performance this year as well!
