“Quality is never an accident; it is the result of passion and hard work.” That’s the motto from artist Anthony Bless who speaks about his lifestyle through his music and the genre of Hip-Hop. Visualize towering skyscrapers on cracked sidewalks with the smell of ambition. Now feel the wind and ocean breeze with tropical sunsets and palm trees…the duality from those images is Anthony Bless.
His single “So Long Ago” is a product of example with its dance-hall flare dedicated to Anthony’s cubano, boricua, latino roots. I’m personally a big fan of dance-hall music. It’s so sensational where it allows you to get lost in the illusion of the music. I love that so much, it’s my favorite quality. “So Long Ago” has that exact same peculiar overtone where it’s almost unforgettable. The lyrics have this light subdued emotion where people, especially those in today’s generation who's all longing for companionship can relate, sing-a-long, and repeat. Anthony shows his versatility and diversity by switching back and forth with melodic flows and a rap flow perfectly not missing a beat. The ending of the song becomes immensely passionate and aggressive, you can tell the songwriting of “So Long Ago” is something personable to Anthony. His ambitious dedicated artistry translates well across this single.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Peace! I’m Anthony Bless. I was born in NYC & raised in Miami for 1/2 my life. I’m Cuban Puerto Rican American, a Gemini, and a firm believer that I’m honoring my destiny by representing w the gifts God gave me.
Can you give us a brief history of your musical career?
The musical part of my career started w freestyle sessions & recordings at DJ Miner’s spot (Miami). From there, rap battles helped me get my street cred & I began working on my 1st album “Respect Comes 1st” when I got signed to a production team called “Big Dreamers, Inc.” (Circa 2001). Since then there were countless performances throughout Miami, and now my Latest album release here in LA @ The Peppermint Club (Hwood Group).
Do you write your own music? Can you tell us a bit about your writing style?
I’m a purist so I most definitely write ALL of my own music. My soul & my heart have things to say & music is the way I express myself. I still Have to write everything, paper & Pen. I need to feel the emotion within my strokes. Using an iPad or a computer makes the work feel disconnected, in my opinion, the same way a painter would feel if he was just instructing the paintbrush to move rather than creating.
We really love your new song "So Long Ago! Can you tell us a bit about it?
Thank you. I’m really happy w this song. I wanted something that illuminates my Caribbean vibe while still creating a story line that is vivid & detailed but keeps you moving. I worked on that with my music family “WriteSounds.”
Where did the inspiration behind "So Long Ago" come from?
Being Latino, I marveled at how salsa songs keep you dancing yet they may be filled with stories of heartbreak and tragedy. I wanted to create a similar dynamic within Hip Hop Soul. I think this song captured that. The story line is very personal to me & life / love experiences. I also wanted to make sure it felt empowering. That way anyone that goes through a similar heartbreak or pain can recover & heal just as strongly & beautifully.
What are three things you’d love your fans to know about you?
•God, Family, Love & Success are my driving forces. • I’m only honoring my life purpose in Writing music, performing, & recording in the studio. Everybody has their gifts & their talents. This is how my Soul speaks.
Who are your top 3 musical influences who have helped share your career in the music industry?
Although not a music artist, I love reading Federico Garcia Lorca’s work. His poetic & vivid detail & imagination blow me away. I love Jayz’ work ethic, skillLevel and versatility. And there’s something about Mos Def & Common that evokes the Hip Hop part of my soul. It just feels right. Truthful. Passionate. Artistic.
Any upcoming shows? For someone who hasn’t seen you live yet, how would you describe your performance?
I will be performing at multiple venues throughout LA. My album release @ The Peppermint Club was my 1st LA venue after having performed prominently on the East Coast (Ny to Miami)
What can fans expect from Anthony Bless in 2019?
