Artist Dėnz Updates BuzzMusic On Recent Track Release!

Hey Dėnz! How long have you been making original music?

I started recording my songs less than two years ago, but I have been writing music since I was 15!

In what ways would you say your sound or style has evolved over time?

I believe that there’s always room for improvement for any artist, even for those who have a lot of experience and have been in the industry for many years. I think that over the last year I’ve learned to shape my ideas and the themes in my songs, my writing skills got sharper and it got easier for me to write songs. There’s still a lot of work left for me though, I can still feel that my writing skills and my sound can be so much better than right now. I always strive for the greatest, in my opinion perfection is impossible to reach, but if that’s what you’re trying to reach, excellence is what you’ll get.

What does the song “The Come Off” represent for you, and what do you hope people take away from it?

This is the first whole song that I wrote and recorded, that was about a year ago, I kept coming back and forth with this song, changing lyrics, adding new ideas because I wasn’t satisfied with the sound of it, which is why I released it last month, after convincing myself that the song was done. The whole message of the song is how we, as humans, can visualize our lives as movie tapes when we look back at all the obstacles we encountered in our lives. Loneliness and rejection from the society because of our differences are feelings that I tried to illustrate through my lyrics. We sometimes feel like lone wolves who have been let down by their herd. However, when we look back at the past, we tend to realize that being let down by people from our past made us stronger and better.

Is live performance an important part of what you do, or of your plans?

It is! But I never really thought about it for now to be honest. I do music so people can listen to it and take something away from my lyrics. As a new artist in the game I don’t feel like I should think about performing live right now. When I drop more music or even an album, I sure will and hopefully I will be able to share my music with everyone on shows!

Who, what or where do you look to for inspiration when creating new music?

My biggest inspiration is J. Cole, as an artist, and as a person, he’s the main reference for me when I need some inspiration for my music. I also like to get some ideas from Kendrick’s writing and flow, Joyner Lucas is one my favourite artists too, his storytelling skills are absolutely amazing. These are the top three rappers that I like to get inspired from. I also try to get some new ideas for different styles or different flows, so I turn to artists like Post Malone, NF, Drake and Joey Badass, all of them amazing artists!

How has 2019 been so far for you? What’s next?

It has been good! I basically started dropping my songs 3 months ago only, so in music terms this year started only in June for me! However, 2020 will be a big year for me as I have lots of stuff coming soon. Stay tuned.
