Hey OAKLND! Congrats on the release of your new single “Good 4 Me”! What does this song represent for you?
I kinda strip a song right back and make it all about the lyrics. It's also super shorts, i just wanted to try and really what i was saying across. i wanted this one to really mean something and for it to really resonate with people. It's definitely one of the most personal things i've written.
If you had to pick just one song in your collection to adequately describe your sound, which song would you choose and why?
So i guess it would have to be Hurts Like Hell - it's got a lot more substance to it that some of the first songs i put out, but it's also a bop.
Where is the best setting to listen to “Good 4 Me”, and what do you hope people take away from it?
On a night drive. I kinda just hope it really hits with people, they'll make they're own understanding of it, but i really just want it to resonate with everyone.
What are your thoughts on mainstream music today?
It's so cool how there's been such a power shift towards artists, more and more artists keeping the rights to their masters, being independent. I love that there's a not really a line between indie and pop as well, artists like The 1975 and LANY pushed the boundaries of what pop can be.
What are your main aspirations as an artist going forward?
I want to be able to be independently sustainable. Spotify is such a big player in the industry now and i really want to grow my presence there - and just to work with other great artists.
