Hey Sanía Iman! Welcome to BuzzMusic! Can you tell us about your upbringing? How did you get started in music?
Hey Buzz Music! I’m so grateful to run across you guys. I’m 23 years old. I have been playing piano since the age of six, singing since the age of eight, and writing music since the age of ten. Music literally runs through my blood, my dads side of the family gave me my piano skills, my voice, my music production ears, and even my writing and acting talents! When I was about five or six, I remember my grandparents getting me a little 68 keyed keyboard. I always wondered what it was for, but then my grandma showed me exactly what it was for by taking me to piano lessons every single week. I remember the countless recitals, concerts, and competitions that are a huge part of my music upbringing. My grandpa got me into voice lessons. With him being the dean of the Graduate School of Ethnic Studies at Bowling Green State University, he knew plenty of music teachers that could coach an eight year old that never had musical training in her life.
Can you dive into details about the lyricism in “I Adore You”? What inspired this track?
I absolutely love explaining the journey behind this song. It comes from a place of pain that turns into love and comfort. In all honesty, my fiancé and I were having a disagreement one day, and once I received some moments alone I was able to ponder on what I adore most about him. I was also able to take some time away from the world and put some new song writing training into motion. My fiancé, Elitenment, who happens to be a music artist himself, was my inspiration for “I Adore You.” This song can be perceived in a very universal way and that’s understanding self love. This is a self love song because I do believe that you can’t love somebody if you don’t love yourself. I was able to speak from one of the biggest soft spots in my heart on this one. Elitenment has received another song like this from me back at the beginning of our relationship, but this has been named “the wedding song” in our music community due to me first explaining that “I Adore You” is our wedding song.
Where is the best setting to listen to your songs, and what do you hope people take away from them?
The music I make can be listened to in any setting. I seem to have different music for different settings, depending on what the vibe is. I would personally listen to my songs when I’m in the car, running errands, hanging out with Elitenment, or even chilling by myself! I have many more songs to release to the world, and I hope that people take away the gift of self love. Most of my lyrics are written in a very affirming way. When you sing along with me, you’ll notice yourself feeling uplifted.
What’s the best thing that could happen for you as an artist right now?
The best thing that could happen for me as an artist right now in this moment, is receiving a music placement. I’ve been on a trek searching for music licensing companies like it’s a full time job.
What other projects are you working on through the end of 2019?
I have a couple EPs I’m working on since I've only been putting singles out to start. I’m working on an EP which name I can’t reveal right now, it’s completely written and produced so it is in the process of being recorded. I have many other small projects coming out very soon as well as some large projects. I write and curate for a music blog that can help other music artist soar and reach their goals. I also wish I could drop all four of my EPs that I'm working on now. My plan is to relocate to LA to continue inspiring the world with my songs as well as keep the media professionals paid.
