Indie alternative tune-smiths, Cavern Company, are like an epiphany induced by sugar high. The band effortlessly combines instant gratification with the kind of real substance that can only come from honesty. With music that is exceptionally well and deliberately crafted, the trio achieves a sound that is at once mature and also emotionally resonant. Their single “Enough” is a product of this example. The hooks and catchy melodies convey contemplative reflections of design. It’s art and it’s appreciated. I love the alternative rock sound that’s displayed in the instrumental. It’s compelling and supports the dream-like sound the entire single holds. The vocals of “Enough” resonate into a beautiful high pitch that has a significant effect on your mood and peace. It’s a song we can add to all of our elemental, illusory and ethereal playlists. The feeling this song exudes causes their listeners to get lost in the moment. And enjoy the sounds produced. Cavern Company use their music as a form of self-expression, reasonable due to the fact their tunes are all passionate and emotionally convicting. Check out “Enough” by Cavern Company now!

Care to introduce yourselves to our readers?
Yeah! My name is Zach Shomaker; I sing lead vocals and play guitar. My band mates are
Joshua Warren our drummer and bass writer and Kole Mclaren our lead guitarist and
How long have you known each other? How did you meet?
Well, Kole and Joshua are childhood best friends. So they've literally known each other
and have been making music together forever. I met the guys for the first time in 2014
through a mutual friend. They were already writing and performing as Cavern Company
with a different frontman at the time. I joined in 2015 just to play rhythm guitar. But
through a series of events and a shift of members we landed where we are now. It's been a
wild ride so far but we are grateful for every moment of it.
How has your music evolved since you first began creating music together?
Man... that's a great question. After all of the changes in the band we took a whole year to
write music and figure out our sound. We actually released a single in 2016 called
“Dancing in the Dark” that Kole wrote and sang lead on. Our sound was not quite as
polished at the time as we were still figuring out who we were as a band. Now days we
have a pretty good idea on how we approach songwriting which has helped develop the
Cavern Company you hear today. One thing that has never left our music is a foundation
of groove accompanied by boisterous guitars. I think it is safe to say that those elements
will always be apart of our sound as a band.
We absolutely love your new song Enough! Can you tell us a bit about it and the writing process behind it?
Thank you! It's definitely one we are proud of. “Enough?” was quite a feat for us as far as
the writing process goes. Kole had written a couple guitar hooks backed with some really
interesting synth textures that intrigued us all. We had been trying to decide which song
we wanted to release as the our third single for 2018 and when Kole brought us these
pieces we had our minds made up even though we had other songs that were technically
“closer” to being finished. We took some time to put the song to the grind and although we
had never written in this fashion before it turned out to be one of our favorite writing
processes we have ever done. After about 2 weeks of auditioning different structures,
hooks, and melodies, we had written a song that was both true to our sound and true to
what we needed to say with our artistic voice.
Where did the inspiration behind Enough come from?
To preface, I think that many people have a romanticized view of song writing or maybe
even the artistic process as a whole. We often talk about how life does not always lend
itself feeling inspired and sometimes you just have to do what you know to do and find
inspiration along the way. “Enough?” is a great example of this. We didn't necessarily
have an “aha” moment for this song and there were actually times during the writing
process that were a bit daunting. But we kept working. As we worked we discovered the
song which allowed us to discover more about ourselves as artists and as people. Lyrically
“Enough?” gives listeners a look inside our battle with anxious feelings towards the future
as we deal with the main question posed in the song, “Am I asking way too much to find if
this will be enough?” It is our hope that this song will resonate with our listeners in a way
that helps them discover more about their situations and lives as well.
Do you prefer the digital or more traditional way (cd, lp etc) of getting your music to your fans, why?
I'd like to tell you that we have a solid answer for this. But the truth of the matter is, we've
only been doing music in the existence of the digital age, so it is really all we know.
Although we have had our fair share of frustrations with the ever-changing digital age of
music, we also see so much opportunity to independent artists such as ourselves that has
never previously existed. This also means that the music has to be unique, well produced,
well marketed, well performed, more than ever before for a artists. It's an exciting time in
the music industry for sure. Haha!
Any upcoming shows together in the near future? For a new fan who hasn’t seen you live yet, how would you describe your live performance?
We've got a couple shows we are stoked about coming up in November. The first is in
Oklahoma City at 89th St. Collective on November 1st and the second is in Tulsa, OK at Blackbird on Pearl on November 2nd.
Our live show is incredibly energetic and engaging. It's more than just hearing the record
as a live performance. We always work to make the live show an experience for everyone
in the room. Oh... and we expect crowd participation. What's the fun if we are the only
people participating. Am I right?

What’s next for the band?
We have big plans for 2019 as far as releases and touring. But a lot of that is still being
planned and is not yet common knowledge. In the meantime, we will be working on some
creative video content as well as continuing to write and perform as often as we are able.
The best way to keep up with upcoming dates and news is to follow us on Spotify and on
