Christina Martines Shows Off Her Bars With “Mr. Know-It All”
Christina Martines was born and raised in Mexico City, crafted in the arts of contemporary and popular music. At an early age she developed a neat interest in foreign languages and adopted multicultural patterns to connect with her inner artist! Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith and Justin Bieber,
just to give some names, are Christina’s main influences in her journey with pop music.
Christina shows her diversity and star potential in the release of her single “Mr Know It All”. She begins the song spitting hard-hitting bars that takes you by surprise before channeling her inner pop diva with a melodic tune to carry the song. She shows her charisma, personality and vivacious attitude in the song while delivering us a hit single! She sings about an interest in a boy that’s relatable to a lot of young girls in todays generation. Her ability to connect with others is just one of the components that makes Christina Martinez who she is! I like how the song starts out in a trendy and fresh hip-hop beat before transitioning into a preppy pop instrumental similar likes of her musical influence Justin Bieber. You can listen to “Mr. Know It All” here and connect with Christina on her social media as we follow her journey on becoming the next big pop sensation!

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hi friends of Buzz Music LA, my name is Christina Martines. I love food, flowers and I like to write songs.
Can you give us a brief history of your musical career?
I started singing at 10 at the school choir and did some really dumb compositions that I cannot remember right now. Through the years I was enrrolled in guitar, piano, ballet and vocal lessons so we've been preparing for this my whole life. I really defy myself taking some free courses at Berklee Online in coursera.org, so I wrote this song called "Blurry Eyes" for my final assestment and sudenlly we are in the studio recording this. It was like a rush, then I'm in the middle of a town in Arkansas walking to Target to get some groceries because I was a Finalist on the Alchemy Songwriting Competition (2016) in Conway. I just noticed it was like magic standing in front of people extremelly knowledgeable and talented sharing some really good thoughts about my song. And I knew that everything was going to be ok. We haven't stopped since then.
Do you write your own music? Can you tell us a bit about your writing style?
Yes, I'm a hopeless romantic! So I use a lot of simple chord progressions and simple harmonies. That's it! I like to see myself as a singer-songwriter.
LOVE the new song "Mr. Know-It-All! Can you tell us a bit about it?
Mr. Know-It-All is a song that expresses a lot of my insecurities. When you start growing up and you want everyone to like you there is a big part of yourself that might get lost in the process. This is the kind of stuff that people is really afraid to talk about. It's ok to feel insecure and it's ok if you don't fit in other's standars and nowadays this is still an issue for young women. Sometimes I still feel reckless being myself and I hope this song will empower us all to love ourselves with all our flaws.
Where did the inspiration behind the song come from?
I wrote this song when I was 19 and it's so silly. My buddies used to pick on this guy that used to have an answer for everything. I used to liked him so bad and one day one of my besties called him Mr. Know-It-All, so the idea came by and I started writing the song. Funny thing is that they picked on me too!
Who are your biggest musical influences? How have they helped you shape your career in the music industry?
Eddy (Sheeran) is one of my favorites, when I started developing the concept of this song "+ (Plus)" was the most listened record on my phone. I have listened rappers in the past like Eminem, 2pack and Nicki Minaj but this was the first time that my inner Pop Star felt trully connected with the lyrics and the guitars playing in the background. Then Sam Smith came into my life with "In the Lonely Hour" and every time I'm warming up with my vocal coach I feel like I'm having his talented voice. I'm an old soul borned in the next decade, I love 80's music such as George Michael, Whitney, Earth Wind and Fire and the top hits my daddy used to play in the road trips. I can say that those ones were my first influences since I was to little and I loved the road trips just because that special tape. And I can't leave behind the queen, Selena Quintanilla, she's in my favorites all the time and I have in mind to drop some Spanish versions of my song in the future.
What are three things you’d love your fans to know about you?
I'd like them to know that I'm a total average person, I'm a hundred percent approachable and I like to be nice with people.
Any upcoming shows? For someone who hasn’t seen you live yet, how would you describe your performance?
Since this is the first single we haven't performed at live shows yet, but for Christmas we'll be releasing some cool songs and local shows are about to be scheduled. This is about to be totally acoustic to create an intimate connection with the audience. Next year we're playing live shows at a School District so we're bringing the band together for that journey.
What’s next for you?
Doddles, my fisrt EP, it's coming out starting next year. Mr. Know-It-All it's the first single of the four track record and we have worked in this project since the last year, so I'm really excited. I wrote this songs in my teens so I can't wait to share this story, it's been pulled out from the bottom of my heart. I promise that everything is so real.
