Contemporary Motions in the New Single “Moments” by Alexa Ray

With over-produced, fast paced, singles engulfing our music streaming today, it is nice to get an emotional, and compelling pop single for a change. Bringing this change is Alexa Ray, with “Moments”. Coming from Toronto, Ontario, Alexa has turned her ideas and inspirations into passionate songs. The impact of these songs has allowed her to have features on other artist projects as well (“World in Colour”, “From the Ashes). Having collectively over 5 million streams already, Alexa Ray now presents us with a new single “Moments”.

Gentle, yet interesting sounds can be heard at the beginning of “Moments”. The way each instrument mixes together to make a cluster of sound is beautiful. As the kick drum comes in, we are greeted by Alexa Ray’s gorgeous voice. She comes in ever so softly when she first sings, but it is not un-noticed and it is very present. In “Moments” Alexa’s vocal performance really sounds like she is singing right next to you, and you are getting a live show from her.  Furthermore, the way she can dynamically changes her voice to the way the instrumental is changing in volume is outstanding. All of the individual beauty in each instrument and Alexa’s voice, “Moments” reflects a unique piece of music that I believe will have a spot on a lot of peoples upcoming playlist.

Listen to "Moments" here.

Hey Alexa Ray!  Welcome to BuzzMusic, our team is very happy to be representing you and your latest single “Moments”.  Being a pop/contemporary artist, you must have work on your vocal abilities for a long time.  How long have you been singing for, and have you had any professional lessons?

I'm actually operatically trained. Before singing pop music I studied opera and trained intensively for over 15 years. As much as I loved the classical world I felt that I had a lot more creatively to give as artist then what the opera world had to offer so started exploring other genres. My musical style is a hybrid of my classical training fused together with pop elements so you can hear my voice weave back and forth between the two genres in my music.

In “Moments”, there are a lot of dynamic moments that make this piece super emotional and story-like.  What was your main message you wanted to get across with “Moments”?  Did you want it to be very present and dynamic so it could have story-like elements (In the production)?

This is why I fell in love with music for TV and Film. Its so dynamic that even without words you can envision a whole story happening and this is something I try to bring into all of my music. The song Moments is really close to my heart and was written with my friend Dajaun Martineau. Moments is a reminder that life is short, to cherish those we love around us and make each moment count. Life can get crazy and when it does its those special moments that remind us what life is really all about.

With over 5 million streams in total, you must get a lot of listeners, which equals some follows as well.  Do you like to keep up to date with your Instagram and Twitter, and do you like to interact with fans on those platforms?

My preference is Instagram, thats probably where i'm most active.  I am on twitter but don't tweet as often as I should. But you can follow me here; @alexa_squad

You mentioned using that you have a lot of collaborations, which means you must be working a lot.  Do you have any new singles/projects coming out with some artists/yourself?

Yes, I am currently working on a number of projects including an album in collaboration with film composer Randall Jermaine which releases this September "Fearless". The first single from the album will be dropping next month called "Begin Again". Im really excited about this project- Randall and I have been working to create a really fresh sound combining huge emotional pop vocals along side electronic cinematic production.  So if you enjoy Moments, you're going to love this album.

What can we expect to see from you throughout 2020?

Last year I spent a lot of time writing and have a number of collaborations I can't wait to share, so 2020 is going to be a huge year for me in terms of new releases.
