Exclusive: Carlos Morgan Releases Soul Filled Single “Have A Little Faith”
Carlos Morgan is a powerful R&B/Soul ballad singer songwriter from Canada. He has won numerous awards, which include the winning of a “JUNO” and “SOCAN” just to name a few. His previous album was titled “The Compilation” where he released it on his label "Solroc Music". The album focused primarily on his struggles of keeping faith when things didn’t seem to bright. In the Spring of 2019, Carlos Morgan will be releasing his highly anticipated new album, “Where I’ve been, Where I’m going”.
Carlos has released his new single “Have A Little Faith” is accompanied by a beautiful music video which features a stunning choreographed dance that perfectly accompanies and enhances the song (available on YouTube) and the full experience of the music. What captures the listener instantly, is his powerful and smooth toned voice, is not your ordinary power ballad singer. There are parts in the song where Carlos’s voice brings out character with every emotional lyric he sings. The fact that he is not too smooth on his final audio recording is what makes him different, Carlos shows his true emotion through each world he sings which makes it more real and raw for the listeners.

We had the chance to speak with Carlos to learn more about him and the meaning behind his latest song.
Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
My name is Carlos Morgan. I'm a multi award winning R&B/Soul recording artist, vocalist, songwriter and producer based in, and from, Toronto, ON Canada.
Can you give us a brief history of your musical career?
I started singing in church when I was 12 years old then switched to R&B, Soul and Reggae when I turned 16 years old. I sang lead in many bands in various clubs and venues in Toronto. In my early twenty, I began pursuing a career in music more seriously. I started writing and recording demos for a production company that was shopping songs to American record labels and artists. At the same time, we were shopping to labels in both Canada and the U.S. for a recording deal for me. All of the labels we shopped to didn't offer us a deal. At that point, the production company I was working with started their own independent record label and I signed with them. The name of the label was called "DTone Records". The owners of the record label were also songwriters and producers as well. We recorded my first album, "Feelin' Alright". That album went on to win every major Canadian music award including the Juno Award (equivalent to the Grammys), MMVA (equivalent to the MTV Awards) and the SOCAN Music Award (equivalent to the ASCAP/BMI Awards) and many others. I left the label and decided to start my own record label, Solroc Music. I released my second, sophomore album, "The Compilation" on my label. I'll be releasing my third album on my own label in Spring 2019.
How did you come up with your name? Is there a meaning behind it?
My name was given to me by my father. There isn't a meaning behind my name. If there is, the only "meaning" behind my name has is my father named me after a musician named "Carlos Malcolm", he grew up listening to in Jamaica.
Do you write your own music?
I write and produce my own music. I've been writing my own songs for over 25 years.
Can you tell us a bit about your writing style?
My writing style includes writing mostly about my life experiences. Because I'm not a strong instrumentalist (I play guitar and drums but not good enough to write with) I usually vocally record my drums and bass parts into my phone. When I get to the studio, I along with the engineer/producer I work with, build the track. I'll make changes to the production and music till I hear exactly what I want.
We’re really into your new song! Can you tell us a bit about it?
Thank you for being into my new song. The name of the song is called "Have A Little Faith". The song is about having the faith to overcome life's obstacles, trials and tribulations. And more importantly, loving yourself and believing that no matter what, everything is going to be alright.
Where did the inspiration behind the song come from?
The inspiration behind my song came from some very difficult and upsetting issues I was facing. There were many times I felt silenced and disparaged but with everything I've been through, I found the courage, strength, courage and faith to not give up and be broken. I wanted to write a song that everyone can, hopefully, find inspiration and courage and enlightenment in.
What are three things you’d love your fans to know about you?
The songs I'd love my fans to know about are my songs, "Just Jane", "Sweet As You Are" and "Forever For You" (currently on my second album, "The Compilation") and from my first album" Feelin' Alright", I'd love my fans to know about "Feelin Alright"," Baby C'Mon" and "Give It To You". And please check out my new single, "Have A Little Faith".
Any upcoming shows?
I have two shows/concerts coming up. The first one is happening on Friday September 28th in Guelph. The name of the show is called "The R&B Jazz Songbook Concert". This concert is a show I created, arranged and produced. I perform songs R&B and Pop songs in Jazz stylings and interpretations. The second concert I'm performing is happening on Thursday Oct. 4th in Toronto. The name of the show is called "The R&B Soul Men Legends Concert Vol. 1"; The Music Of Luther Vandross, Freddie Jackson, Teddy Pendergrass & Barry White". I'll be performing a 90 minute concert performing songs from these four legendary and iconic artists, along with, my original songs. I'll be adding more concert dates in the Fall/Winter. My performances are described as entertaining, energetic and engaging. I love entertaining, dancing and engaging my audience. One of the aspects of my performance that I love are the reactions that I get when people see me dance. The reactions are always of shock and surprise.
What’s next for you?
What next's for me is releasing my new album, "'Where I've Been, Where I'm Going" in Spring 2019. In the meantime, I'll be releasing my new single, "Have A Little Faith", in the U.S. and Europe.
