Hey there Matia! Welcome to BuzzMusic! We're incredibly excited to be featuring your newest album "There Is Love"! Tell us about the recording process, and how the overall curative process was for this album?
Thank you! There Is Love takes the foundational rootsy elements from my first album Blind but adds in a bit more Motown, Beatles type vibe.
There Is Love took a long time to record because our band had a lot going on behind the scenes. But the really cool thing about us is that we are all a very cohesive group and I think it shows in the music.
How do you think "There Is Love" compares to your first album? How do you think your overall sound has progressed since the release of your first album?
Personally, I love both albums. They both honestly reflect where I was emotionally at the time. Even though There Is Love is a bit more produced, both albums have the fundamental
Singer/songwriter sound that is my music.
Who has had the biggest influence on your life musically thus far? Can you describe the impact this particular individual has had in terms of your sound/progression as an artist?
I think it’s impossible to pick who influenced me the most. The top of my list is Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Peter Gabriel, James Taylor, Ray Charles, but many others!!! I love so many artists but at the core of my love for music is lyrical content that deliver a deeper message.
How do you feed your passion for music?
Well, my story is a long one and that story is wrapped up in both what feeds my creativity and what is reflected in my music. Every artist has something to say for a reason. I’m not short of reasons.
What are some of your ultimate goals as an artist? Are any of these goals currently being put into place/being worked on?
A huge goal is to share my story with a much larger audience. It’s an inspiring one which holds a lot of positivity and hope for those suffering in a certain way. I would love to be on Ellen or Oprah to share it. I would also like to use my music to help increase empathy both for animals and humans. Compassion and kindness are really important to me and it’s how I live my life.
It was great having you here on BuzzMusic! Tell us more about what's next for you after this album release? Any shows in the near future?
We have a few shows coming up next month:
Topanga Revival October 6th
Trip Santa Monica October 8th
Children’s Hospital October 10th OC (Private though I believe)
