Exclusive Interview With LA's Banana Cream

Banana Cream is a Los Angeles based home-recording solo music project by singer, songwriter & multi-instrumentalist, Will Gonzalez. Will started writing music for Banana Cream around fall of 2017. His sound incorporates different elements of catchy synth-pop with groovy beats driving his songs.

Banana Cream releases their new psychedelic pop single 'Let Me Know'. The song features dynamic crossovers, with its musical composition. Will's talent for being a multi-instrumentalist truly shines throughout the entire song. Wills's unironically gorgeous melodies and a dash of his hallucinogenic airy vocals, melt perfectly into the groovy synth beats. We recommend kicking back with a ice cold drink, closing your eyes and vibing out to the beat.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Sure! My name is Will Gonzalez and I am a singer, songwriter and multi-

instrumentalist, writing music out of Commerce, Ca. which is located in

southeast Los Angeles County. I’ve been in several bands throughout my 15

plus years of making music with other musicians and writers, and decided I

would attempt the DIY solo thing. I found comfort in working alone and at

my own pace. Who wouldn’t?

Tell us a bit about your new song and the writing style behind it.

My latest release and second single is called “Let Me Know”. The beat of the

song is influenced by late 90’s/early 2000’s R&B style songs. I grew up

around that type of music just being around my oldest sister and cousins. So, I

mixed that in with a sprinkle of dreamy synth pop and topped it off with some wet vocals.

Where did the inspiration behind the song come from?

The inspiration behind the song came from two characters from a TV show

called The Office. If you’ve seen The Office, then you probably know which

characters inspired the song, lyrically.

What are the top 3 things you would love your fans to know about you on the more personal side of things?

-This is my first-time recording, mixing and producing my own music--so

bear with me.

-The first instrument I ever picked up and learned to play was the guitar. I

wanted to be the next Jimi Hendrix, but that quickly went out the window

when I discovered how many incredible well-known—and

unknown—guitarists were out there. Yikes! Now-a-days I like to experiment

with song writing and sounds, rather than try to master one instrument. I find

pleasure in whatever instrument I can get my hands on and learn.

-I think that’s just about all I’d like my fans to know. I mean, there’s not too

much that goes on behind the scenes with me. OK maybe just one more thing. I am

lactose intolerant. There. I said it.

Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who hasn’t seen you live yet, how would you explain your live performance?

I don’t have any shows coming up anytime soon. At the moment I’ve just

been focusing on recording and producing. However, if the opportunity ever

comes along, I might consider playing live. I think that’d be fun. I will

definitely give the good people a heads up on that!
