Exclusive: Italian Singer Songwriter Paolo Lewis Releases New Song "The One Chance"
Inspired by singers such as Ed Sheeran and James Bay, Italian singer-songwriter Paolo Lewis dropped out of medical school in Rome and moved to London to pursue his musical career. Paolo Lewis started by playing in front of a few people at pubs and eventually it grew into important venues such as The Bedford, a sold out show in Cargo and even the International Youth Festival in Kingston. “Warriors From Mars” was his first release with more than 9,000 streams and was featured on the radio.
"The One Chance" is blatantly acoustic based with a serene introduction. Almost acapella with a quick paced verse and eventually it is met with a driving guitar rhythm. This track is the kind of song where it is meant to play in a very intimate setting and close audience. Organic instruments are used making it more familiar to the listener especially for Ed Sheeran fans. A piercing lyric “If honesty was all we had, I guess we really had nothing at all”, this tells the listener that this relationship that he was in or that he is going through really had no substance to it when he took a step back and looked it from a holistic perspective. Make sure to go and check out the song on Spotify!

Hi Paolo! Can you introduce yourself to our readers?
Of course! I am Paolo Lewis, 22, and I am a London based singer-songwriter from Rome, Italy.
Can you give us a brief history of your musical career?
Well I started taking piano lessons when I was five, which were my first steps in music. I stopped after a couple of years and started teaching myself guitar, mainly influenced by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers!
At 17 I moved to the USA and heard Ed Sheeran’s + for the first time which inspired me to write my first song. Pleased to say my songs got better from there!
I went back home after a year and studied for two semesters in Medical School in Rome, but I decided to chase my real dream, packed my stuff and moved to London to study a Songwriting degree.
I started performing in local pubs in front of two or three people and from there one thing led to another; I had the pleasure of performing at some prestigious venues, selling out a show at Cargo and I started recording my singles, which are now available on all music platforms.
Do you write your own music? Can you tell us a bit about your writing style?
Yes! Lyrics, music and arrangement all stem from me and a very close team who helps with production. I tend to write from the heart and about very real experiences. Ideas come to me all the time - sometimes I’m just out with friends and we have to stop so I can write down a lyric! More often than not, though, I’m just messing around with a guitar and end up writing a song.
"The One Chance" is a total hit! Can you tell us a bit about the song? Where did the inspiration behind it come from?
‘The One Chance’ is about being cheated on; when we ask ourselves how can the person we love feel similar things for different people at the same time. My whole point with this song is that sometimes it’s good to just let go. We need to be active in removing toxic people from our lives - stop giving another chance to those who don't deserve it.
Humans are made to love and sometimes we don’t realise how dangerous some people we love are until they get to hurt us.
You have some pretty big live performances under your belt, for someone who hasn't seen you live yet, what can they expect?
Good vibes, great energies and probably a sore throat the day after! I make my audience sing a lot and be part of the show. I don’t like to just step on a stage and perform my songs because people could just listen to them online. When someone pays for a ticket I must - as an artist - make that night special and entertaining for them.
Any upcoming shows?
I am currently booking my UK shows for the year, and should be playing live in the USA around May 2019. I am really active on social media, so make sure you check them for updates on shows!
What’s next for Paolo Lewis?
At the moment I am recording my next few releases. My next single will be out in a few months and 2019 will see my first EP!
