Care to introduce yourself?

My name is Steve Hong. I’m an independent R&B and Hip Hop artist living in Los Angeles, CA. I started my music career about two years ago, and have since then released an EP and an album, and am currently working on my new album aiming for release early 2019.

We're completely in love with your new song. Can you tell us a bit about the song and the writing style behind it?

Thank you so much! Yes, my new song “Bloodline” is a very honest and lyrical song. It has a faster and more aggressive tone compared to most of my other tracks.

The writing process was the main focus behind the song, since I wanted it to be very lyrical and true to myself, yet still sound catchy. It took a few months to complete this song, as I wanted to make sure every single word and syllable was necessary before release. It was a lot of writing and erasing, and re-writing! But I’m happy with the way it turned out.

Where did the inspiration behind the song come from?

The inspiration from it comes from a range of past and current events in my life, so I touch on several different topics, including my family history, being underestimated from peers, self-belief, and even some boastfulness of what I believe I can do. However, the overall message of the song is will power. I relate that to my father and my grandfather before him, and the struggles they went through as I try to channel their will into my life, hence the title “Bloodline”.

Let's get personal for a second! What are 3 things you would love your fans to know about you?

First thing that I’d like my fans to know about me is that I truly love and appreciate them! Their support really does mean a lot to me, and I’d go as far as to say it moves me emotionally to read that I’ve helped spark a positive change or inspiration in their lives. Their support in turn, sparks a positive motivation in mine.

Second, I love to surprise my fans and even casual listeners of what I believe I’m capable of in creating music. I believe that I can create any kind of song, whether it’s a soft love song, a hard hip hop track, or a bouncy club banger. I pride myself in my diversity and would love to show that side of me to all the fans.

Third thing is that I would love to get to know my fans as much as they want to get to know me. I’m very interested in what my fans like, what other artists they listen to, what movies they like, etc. It could definitely help me strengthen the connection with them!

Any upcoming shows in the near future? For a new fan who hasn’t seen you live yet, how would you describe your live performance?

Honestly, I’ve only done a handful of shows thus far! However, I do plan on doing more and building my stage presence in the near future. My next show is in Houston, Texas although there is not a set date as of yet!

I’d love to describe my shows as a place where fans can come to let loose, have fun, and have a night they can be themselves and enjoy the music and atmosphere I will work hard to provide for them. I hope to build that experience so I can grow as a performer as well!
