Fan Favorite: Hatty Keane is Back with “Digital Love”

Cinematic soul songstress Hatty Keane is swiftly making her name known across the UK and indeed throughout North America. With a consistent string of singles released throughout 2019, she is the artist to watch. Her poetic lyrics, soulful vocals, and engaging themes of real-life experiences make her a force to be reckoned with.

Hatty’s new single “Digital Love” takes a brief step away from the high energy aura we’ve seen before, we see her adopt a classic soul/pop vibe that feels nostalgically inspired by the nineties for its softness, space, and melodic development. As always throughout Hatty Keane’s songs, the songwriting speaks for itself. The blissful melody helps tell a story that captivates, and the simple organic set-up compliments and reinforces this progression flawlessly. “Digital Love” gathers momentum throughout, resulting in spiraling chaos of energy and optimism during the final third. The hook circles around you, repeating and building up more every time while it sinks in quickly, leaving you singing along in an instant, and even considering the poetic depth underneath it all. This is something of a humble yet effective hit of songwriting, recorded in true Hatty Keane fashion, but offering something refreshing that showcases a whole other side to the soulful singer/songwriter.

Hey Hatty Keane! Welcome back to BuzzMusic, we're excited we get to talk about your latest single "Digital Love"! Are you happy with how the song was produced in the end?

Yes, I feel it combines elements of both retro soul and blues with modern epic energy.

"Digital Love" is an undeniably captivating song. Where did you draw your inspiration from in order to create this track?

The track is about our obsession with phones and social media and how our relationships are suffering in this digital age because we are no longer talking we are texting.

Your music always seems to light up the room and lift an audience up just when they need it! Was it your intention to be this kind of optimistic artist, or is it something that simply comes naturally for you?

I would actually say I'm the opposite! My music usually talks about the suffering of some kind and has a darkness to it but I suppose that could be uplifting in the way that I am strong in my delivery in the face of these bad things I tend to write about!

What would you say is the most useful piece of criticism you’ve received thus far within your career? Do you typically take criticism to your advantage?

In the early days, my voice got a few bad comments which pushed me to be a complete perfectionist with it and learn everything I could about it.

It was a treat being able to showcase “Digital Love” on BuzzMusic! We can’t wait to see what else you have in store for us as listeners! What’s the next goal for you artistically within the music world, now that you’ve just released a new single?

EP early 2020 and getting out live.
