Fancy J London Invites Us To Take A Closer Look At Latest Album, 'Closer'

We loved "Closer." What does it feel like to return from your hiatus and have "Closer" released in all its brilliance?

Thank you. I am grateful to be back. My "Closer" album release commemorated my 10th year in music since my first release on SoundCloud in 2014. After experiencing two strokes, I honestly thought I wouldn't be able to sing again. It was difficult for me to hit high notes and hard not to tear up occasionally from the strain. Still, I made it through and am proud of the outcome, considering everything it took to return to where I was before.

What was your favorite part of the creative process that brought "Closer" to life?

My creative process is something; I might be in the shower when a verse comes to my head, and I jump out soaking wet and grab my phone to record it. Sometimes, I am at the grocery store, in my car, or in bed at 4 am, and lyrics come to me like wildfire, and I scramble to add them to my notes. Other times, I feel blank and find it hard to think of anything remotely close to a lyric. I have to say I think my favorite part is seeing it all come together in the end and thinking, "Wow, I did that!"

What's your favorite song from "Closer," and why?

One of my favorite songs is Happily Never After Fine; it's just a tremendous anti-fairytale song about the genuine cheating that sadly happens all too often in relationships. It is a song that asks a question that most people don't want to know but want to know if you know what I mean.

As someone who's already had success in the industry, what goals do you still want to achieve through your music?

My music has helped me endure horrible, tragic, sad, depressing, life-altering times. I can't say I see it as an achievement but rather a sweet release.

What's next for Fancy J London? Can we expect to hear more new music soon, and is there anything you'd like to say to your fans?

I have quite a few projects in the works for early 2024 through late 2026, such as a most excellent hits album, two more new albums, a few more singles, a couple of live events, God willing, of course, and other surprises. To all my loyal Londoner Fans, I have heard your requests and the "Blu3" album will be re-released on Bandcamp soon. I thank everyone sincerely for your support; I appreciate you all.
