Originally from Greenwich , Connecticut, singer-songwriter Alexander Gold currently
resides in Miami with roots that span from New York to Georgia. An array of experiences have
shaped Alexander into not only the person he is today, but the musician he is as well. Gold has spent countless hours in the recording studio while also taking time to deal with problematic issues such as mental illness and substance abuse. By the summer of 2018, “For my City” his latest single was released which is now available on all major digital platforms. In future months, Alexander will be releasing a follow up single to “For My City” as well as two EPs.
As soon as the listener is met with the new track "For My City", we find that it is very narrative and straightforward. Alexander Gold has traveled to various places in the United States and tells about how he wants to represent his city. The genre of this track is hard to place because it has a somewhat familiar pop , alternative rock, and acoustic sound to it. We are met with distorted
guitar runs and riffs and a heavy bass. It allows the listener to explore a new genre that is a blend of genres that the listener may be familiar with. Gold’s vocals are superb and the listener can hear how proud he is and all the passion he puts in “for his city”. Make sure to listen to the track for yourself and keep up with Alexander Gold for his future releases!

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
I’m Alexander Gold, and I’m rock singer and songwriter from Miami, FL.
Can you give us a brief history of your musical career?
I fell in love with music when I was 11 years old – I actually started out as a rapper, and stayed in that genre until 2012 when I joined my first professional band (Ghost Of). We only released one single, “Lost in My Mind” and it performed really well – stayed at number one on YouTube music for close to a week I think (can’t remember exactly how long). Things didn’t end up working out with the band and I ended up walking away from it and music all together for about 4 years. Fast forward to this year, and I released my first solo EP in April under my own label, and just recently released the new single “For My City” on August 3rd.
How did you come up with your name? Is there a meaning behind it?
Well actually, I didn’t come up with my name – my parents did. My full name is Alexander Whiting Gold – thanks mom and dad for a cool name!
Do you write your own music?
I do. My music is very personal to me, and I think when you write your own stuff, the connection you have with it is so much stronger. I really believe it elevates a song when the artist is also the songwriter, and I think it comes through in the music.
Can you tell us a bit about your writing style?
Yeah, like I said before, I started in rap, specifically freestyle rapping. I will always love freestyling
because it allows me to really explore and try my voice over so many kinds of music. I’ve since translated my freestyling ability into my rock writing, and I’ll either hear a melody in my head then start freestyle singing over it, or my guitarist or one of my producers will play something and if I like it, I’ll just go and we build it from there. I tend to just follow a line or sometimes even a only a word that feels best, and write the song out from there. It’s so much fun…
We’re really into your new song "For My City"! Can you tell us a bit about it? Where did the inspiration behind the song come from?
Thank you! Jimmy Duval (***look up his producing credits, he produced some huge records for
XXXTentacion and many others***) produced it, along with KJ Drapeau, and we had Dave Martel on Guitar. Jimmy started playing this dope piano riff and I just started singing what turned out to be the chorus “(Let’s die for the city, let’s ride for the city, let’s fight for the city we livin in…”) and we just build it from there. Definitely one of the most fun songs I’ve ever recorded. I really wanted to make an anthem that not only highlighted my city, but also many of my other favorite places around the U.S. I hear it playing at major stadiums at 3rd down when the Dolphins need a stop, or when the Miami Heat walk on the court – whoever your team is, play it loud when they need that crowd support, it gets people fired up!
What are three things you’d love your fans to know about you?
Good question… I think number one would be that I’m going to be announcing a new initiative soon to hopefully help people in creative careers who suffer from mental illnesses like depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, and substance abuse primarily. or whatever it may be that affects their ability to enjoy life. I myself struggle with depression and anxiety and have had issues with alcohol and drugs at different points in my life, and with so many young artists having died recently from drug overdoses, I want to promote a message of self-care and self-love, and I want people to know that they’re not alone. The other two things I want my fans to know is I LOVE animals, and being home in Miami!
Any upcoming shows?
I’m actually not performing at the moment, much to my dismay (I’m dying to release all this music and get back on a stage). I just finished recording an album in 3 weeks (have a documentary coming out about it soon – follow my YouTube channel to see it as soon as I release it), and we’re putting the finishing touches on all the records and just getting everything ready.
For someone who hasn’t seen you live yet, how would you describe your performance?
Get ready… This show is going to be wild – the songs on this project are so diverse in style, but very high energy, some are pretty intense and emotional so I’m going to give you everything I have up there on the stage… I want you to feel my words as if you were living the experiences and feeling the feelings I’m describing.
What’s next for you?
I will be releasing a follow up single in a few weeks, official announcement and cover art revel
happening very soon, and then that will be followed up by two EP’s before we drop the album.
