Beau Anthony Rodriguez is a San Antonio, award winning guitarist who knows how to shape our hearts into a tune! He released his contemporary self- love and motivational new single titled “Cavalry”. "Cavalry" is a striped down single that discusses a hopelessness feeling and lost connection between yourself and reality. Beau's voice is raspy and edgy, alongside complementary to the beautiful acoustic chords from his guitar. The stretched-out hook in "Cavalry" adds an effect on the listeners and immediately adds emphasis to his lyrics. The song has a fused blend of rock and country. Subdued rock is known for it's riveting chords and tough lyricism while country is the all american sound that can translate from sad to happy. “Cavalry” has that nice mixture of the two genres, absorbing it's roots and fabricating its own sound.
Can you give us a brief history of your musical career?
My Mom offered me $25 as a kid (6th grade) to join orchestra and play the double bass. That opened the door for me as a musician. I then fell in love with the sound of that instrument, I also played bass guitar for some songs in orchestra concerts. One summer my brother would leave to go skateboarding and had a Fender Strat. I would sneak in his room and play the heck out of it, which led me to realize that I want to be a guitarist. Ever since then I've been playing day in and day out, striving to be the best I can be. Recently, I landed an endorsement deal from Lowergroove Guitars out of Dodge City, Kansas. It's a milestone in my career, I'm very grateful for where I am currently in my career.
Do you write your own music? Can you tell us a bit about your writing style?
I write all of my music. Plugging my guitar in and just playing in my room. It comes out naturally. What ever I am feeling seems to flow right into my guitar. I don't have a certain process where I'm like "Ok this is the verse, chorus, pre -chorus, etc..." I just start jamming a riff and it just molds into something from there.
We’re really love your new song Calvary! Can you tell us a bit about it?
It's about being stuck and confined in a state of defeat. Heartbreak, struggles with mental health, and just life's ups and downs. Sometimes you feel like there's no overcoming challenges or barriers in life. I felt trapped and isolated from everything for a period of time. Sometimes resilience isn't as easy as it seems.
Where did the inspiration behind Calvary come from?
Listening to a lot of stripped down songs that are just straight to the core. When I was younger I was really into just heavy and riffs that just attacked. Now a days I listen to more to the whole sound compared to just guitar riffs. Not saying that I don't have that taste anymore, but that's just the way I was feeling at the time I wrote it. The lyrics are explaining how the feeling of isolation can be a repetitive cycle if you allow it too.
What are three things you’d love your fans to know about you?
1) I work extremely hard at my craft, day in and day out. My music is extremely personal and special to me, and I'm so glad to share it with everyone. 2) My music is all self funded, written and performed by me (Except drums). My passion is expensive. But the way music makes me feel is priceless. 3) I appreciate EVERYONE who has ever listened to my music or came to see me play. It means a lot to me to have people say to me that the music is cool or they like a song off the EP. It makes it all worth it.
Any upcoming shows? For someone who hasn’t seen you live yet, how would you describe your performance?
December 8th @ White Rock Coffee (Dallas, TX) - December 15th @ Sanchos (San Antonio,TX) January 5th @ Sanchos (San Antonio,TX) January 19th @ Super Happy Fun Land (Houston, TX) February 23rd @ J&J's Pizza (Denton, TX). I just have the greatest time playing music anywhere and everywhere. I think that vibe is given off in the most positive way.
What’s next for you?
I'm digesting this EP (Realm Of Sound) at a pace that is thorough. Playing live and getting it out there. My follow up EP will be out next winter. There will be a music video for the song 'Piss Poor' that is also on the EP.
