IMPRINT is a group that originates from IMPRINT church in England,UK. IMPRINT SOUND started from their house groups where they essentially had a laid back bible study. After their bible study sessions, they would take a random hip hop beat and they turn it into a freestyle creative run. As the group began to write more, they realized that God was opening up a new expression of creativity inside them.
"I Am Blessed" is not the average worship song, in which it takes modern music with hip hop beats which results in head bobbing instrumental. The lyrics not only mention praise to God, but it also introduces a brief background of the group and how they were born and raised in the United Kingdom. It is a very catchy track with its repeating melodies that are sure to get stuck in your head. We hear different voices in each verse and it allows each member of the group their chance to speak their truth.
This is a great song to listen to whether or not you have religious affiliation, because at face value this is a very well produced song. If you do share the same beliefs, then this is even a greater worship song to listen to especially if you are looking for more contemporary pieces.

Care to introduce yourselves to our readers?
Hey guys! There’s quite a few of us – Uchenna, Július, Adrian, Dylan, Wole, Vanessa, Ayo, Danette, Devante, Esther, Caanan, Jereem, Kelechi, Naledi, ST, Samson, Tayo and Joseph. Yeah there’s 18 of us!
How long have you all known each other? How did you meet?
Well each of us got to know each other at different stages spanning from last year to now. Most of us are a part of a church called IMPRINT, which is in England UK. And in our church there’s something called “Crews” which are weekly small groups where we meet in someone house to eat, chill and read the bible together. So “Crews” brought us all together.
How has your music evolved since you first began playing music together a band?
After Crews, we used to put on random Hip Hop instrumentals from YouTube and freestyle to it and write hooks. It was just something that we did for a laugh but a lot of the songs were actually good and our group (plus several people on snapchat) loved the songs. So Wole had the idea of actually recording these songs to make them into proper tracks. And we did just that! We got Július to produce the beats for us, cleaned up our freestyle bars, assigned people to different songs and went to a studio to record our 7 track EP (I have a reason).
We absolutely love your new song "I Am Blessed"! Can you tell us a bit about it and the writing process behind it?
Devante came up with the melody on his way back from crews then built on it when he got home. He later showed a couple of the guys and they loved it. Then word got out about the song so we decided to record it properly.
Where did the inspiration behind the song come from?
It came from being grateful for what God does for us all, so the song is a token of appreciation using our gifts which is our musical talents. Most of us come from different upbringings and backgrounds but one thing that we have in common is that we have all seen God help us in tough situations. Especially in university, which is crazy in England!
Do you prefer the digital or more traditional way (cd, lp etc) of getting your music to your fans, why?
Digital because of the scalability of it all, the reach is limitless as we broadcast our anthems to whole world whereas a traditional approach requires more groundwork with a fraction of the results you’d get from digital marketing. It’s crazy to think that people from the Philippines listen to IMPRINT SOUND! Only digital can do that.
Any upcoming shows in the near future? For a new fan who hasn’t seen you live yet, how would you describe your live performance?
Our live performances are great! You’d have to come and experience IMPRINT SOUND live and really grasp the euphoria of it all. There’s a lot of us a lot of us so it’s always a party on stage. Also, the rapport between us all increases after each and every performance so we really bounce off each other’s energy.
What’s next for IMPRINT?
We’re currently in the middle of shooting music videos for some of the singles on the EP. And we aim to make more Gospel music more accessible to everyone and write more songs that break down the stereotype of what it Gospel music sounds like. It doesn’t always need to be a slow quiet hymn but sometimes something you dance and celebrate to! Although, some hymns will always be legendary and will always have its place.
