Progressive rock/metal band Source was formed in 2013 in Boulder, Colorado. Benjamin Gleason, Justin Mirarck, and Pascal Faurie create consciousness-based music by exploring flotation tanks, philosophy, meditation, yoga, and other mindfulness practices.

Their music expresses the sensations experienced on this planet, the profoundness of the human experience, and the beauty of all that is.

With powerful vocals that dramatically spill into our speakers, we're captivated by the rush of intensity that is Source's latest single, "The Insipidness." Catering to the emotions we have shackled within ourselves, the burgeoning soundscape grows with our anticipation as the progressions ramp up for a full-fledged delivery.

With the heart-shattering timbres grasping onto us with a bold embrace, how these croons cascade upon a bed of eclectic guitar riffs, mellow rhythm, and impactful percussion hits has us enthralled with this record.

"The Insipidness" comes to us from the debut album 'Ethereal Self,' sitting fourth on the tracklist. As poetic lyrical motifs such as 'This potent hunger drives this obsession' chime into our speakers and heighten our senses, the opulent wording continues to glimmer throughout a piece of this caliber. What strikes us as a brilliant display of showmanship is that you can colossally hear each member contributing to the grander scheme of the vision while bathing in self-expression that reflects each individual.

Welcome to BuzzMusic, Source, and congratulations on the release of your latest single, "Ethereal Self." Could you please take us deeper into the meaning this record holds to you?

This album is about the importance of connecting to our cosmic selves in the face of a decaying world.

How does the concept weave into this track tie into the album's overall theme and message?

The song is about allowing creativity to flow naturally and free of judgment from a world that wants to put everything into the same box. By staying connected to our ethereal selves we can create free of self-doubt and allow the natural creative process to unfold without judgment.

How much truth resides in the lyrics that you profess? Is it essential for you to be vulnerable with the message you send out?

I have always strived to be as vulnerable and transparent as I can be with my lyrics. When I use metaphor, it is to simplify the theme of the song so that it can be more universally understood.

If your audience could know one thing about you that they don't, what would you want it to be?

We are a 100% DIY band. We have transitioned to making all our recordings ourselves. We produce everything ourselves. We are as independent as a band can be. We believe the only way new original music will continue to exist in a modern music industry is if musicians take the power into their own hands. We all have the tools, we just need to use them and stop letting labels and big agencies tell us they are our only route to success.

What's next for you?

We are releasing a remix album of Ethereal Self starting with a few singles. We will also be releasing a few full band singles this year and a new full-length album sometime in 2023. Also, we will be on the road as much as possible in 2022 so keep an eye out for our tour dates!
