Interview: Rob Giles Opens Up On His Latest Release, 'Some Stars'

We loved “Some Stars,” we had to ask! What was the inspiration behind this release? Were you drawing from personal experience? WELL, I can neither confirm nor deny who this was or was not about, but I’m sure the ones who it is about think it is about them, cuz, well, some stars think they’re the center of the sky. What is your favorite part of the creative process when making music, and why? I love finishing a song—that final point where you have done a thorough re-write, and you know it's as good as at least I can make it. As someone who has overcome adversity to get to where you are now, do you have any advice for any aspiring musicians? Only ever do, make, or pursue what you want. Ignore the voices from the past, the ones who hurt you, the ones who you need to prove something to, the influencers, the numbers, the gatekeepers, the competition, that guy from that place, your ex and their ex, forget everyone and everything except WHERE IS MY FLOW? because your Flow is holy and real and the only thing that matters.

In 100 years, they won't be talking about your stuff or mine, maybe the Beatles, maybe. But none of the Beatles will know or care. Be here now, making what you want. Everything else is meaningless and will fall where it will. What do you want your listeners to feel when they hear one of your releases?

I want my listeners to feel exactly what they need to feel at that moment for their best awakening or awareness or relation or revelation. I want them to want to hear it again cuz it felt so good the first time. But if not my music, someone else’s.

What’s next for Rob Giles? Can we expect to hear more new music soon, and is there anything you’d like to say to your fans? I will make more music, and I have a TV series I created that’s in development with a wonderful studio and production team. I am in grad school to become an LMFT because I have been hurt and I have been healed, and I want to heal more than hurt from here on out.
