Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hey everyone! I'm Jae Cabrera, a Pop/R&B Artist originally from NYC now living in Waterdown, Ontario Canada since 2015. I've been singing since I was 5. My favorite era of music is 90s everything hahahah! I'm also an Anti-bullying advocate and have been part of a tour called Stand Against the Fear.
Besides music, are there any other hobbies you enjoy doing in your leisure time Jae?
I enjoy playing tennis when possible and a little bit of yoga, but most importantly spending time with my family.
When you know how well your music resonates to an audience how does that feeling affect you and your motivation to release more?
It always puts a smile on my face when I'm entertaining and I see the crowd vibing with me. It's a plus when they come up to me after a performance and give me the thumbs up. When they're feeling it, it definitely gives me more fuel to want to put out more music.
“Show Out” has a genuine classic fun pop sound to it, similar to some of my personal favorite pop songs from the 2008-2012 era. How challenging is it for you to blend today’s sound with your remarkable classic quintessential artistry?
First of all, thanks so much for the kind words. I truly appreciate that. I think that music is subjective. You will never please everyone, and that shouldn't be the point. I think the challenge to stay relevant is always there. But for me, it's all about how the music makes you feel. People will react to your music in different ways, so you kind of have to go with your gut when your lying it down in the studio and hope that it resonates with people.
What was the most fun aspect in creating “Show Out” and why?
I would have to say the vibe in the room when we were recording it. We wrote and recorded Show Out at Invite Only studios in NYC with my long-time collaborators Pat Kelly (@realkingpatrick) and Angelo "Doc" Velasquez (@docknowsmusic). Shout out also to Bangz (@bangzmusic) for laying some killer background vocals on the track. The energy we have together is free-flowing, with a lot of laughter and positive energy. For me that's the perfect combination for a successful session because everything feels easy and smooth.
How would you lyrically interpret this single for our readers?
In a nutshell, it's all about that moment after a break-up, meeting someone by chance and realizing that this person could be the one.
Who are your top 3 musical influences that have helped shape your career in the music industry?
I would have to say Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars.
What's next for you?
I just finished an anti-bullying tour called #StandAgainstTheFear and recently performed at the Miss Heritage Canada pageant competition. I've actually got a fun show coming up called Retro Nights, where I'll be performing original material, but mixing in some of my favorite songs from the 70s, 80s and 90s. I've also been posting song teasers on my IG the last few weeks of potential songs from my upcoming EP. So check them out and let me know what you think. I'm just looking to keep the music flowing, share it and hope it resonates with people.
