Kacey Fifield is an award-winning 16-year-old singer-songwriter from Los Angeles, California.
Releasing original music since she was the age of 10, she taps into mature topics that resonate with her fan base in a major way. This includes ‘Hear Me Out,’ a song about youth empowerment and kindness, where the video was selected and awarded by multiple festivals, including indie festival Dances with Films in Hollywood.
Being multifaceted with her musical skill set, Kacey Fifield also plays piano and guitar; but her greatest passion remains in the art of singing.
Jumping into the ultimate power ballad from Kacey Fifield’s musical catalog, we come across her recently released, “Camouflage.”
With a poignant, piano forward composition taking the helm of this beautifully crafted piece, our ears are open to a universe that is filled with contemplation and vulnerability. Adopting the mindset of someone wise beyond her years, Kacey Fifield embraces the genuine passion that she reinforces her lyrical motifs with.
Sending a surge of inspiration through our soul, we can’t help but latch onto words like, ‘You can keep your camouflage. I can see through to who you are.’ The manner in which her sanctioning tenors leap from your headphones and speak themselves into existence is truly remarkable. Through each word she conveys, you can expect a series of images and relatability to flood your thoughts, and spark up any emotions that are buried within.
What we adore the most about Kacey Fifield has to be how her prevailing croons are more than a series of lyrics put together. She places a fiery desire that is met with good intention as she projects brighter tomorrows to each and every single one of her listeners out there. “Camouflage,” is merely scratching the surface of what Kacey Fifield is capable of, and we have to say that we’re already impressed.
Hello Kacey, thank you for joining us at BuzzMusic. We love how vulnerable you chose to get on your latest record, “Camouflage.” Was there a specific moment or story that sparked up the creativity behind this song?
The idea originated from a poem I wrote in middle school! While I didn't use any of the original lines, once I rediscovered the poem, I knew I wanted to write a song with the same core idea.
In your own words, what does “Camouflage,” mean to you as both the creator and the individual who went through the narrative?
“Camouflage” is a pop ballad that tackles explaining the aftermath of a toxic friendship/relationship as well as realizing that someone you thought you could trust really isn't who you thought they were. I think that a lot of people, including myself, can relate to the core message of standing up to someone who used "camouflage" to mask their true colors. The feeling of loyalty and wanting to trust someone can often be blinding to the truth, and that's something that a lot of people need to realize when dealing with toxic individuals. That's what the song means to me.
We love how mature you are for your age. You really put ‘age ain’t nothin’ but a number,’ to the test. Have you always been this way, or have certain moments shaped you to carry the outlook that you have today?
Thank you so much! I've always been told that I'm mature for my age so I think that comes from my tendency to always think and plan ahead.
With the amount of work that you do in the community as a humanitarian, do you find that your objectives in music and outside of music share similar end goals?
Definitely! With all of my songs, my aim is to connect with my listeners and help them feel understood and empowered. In that way, both passions align quite a bit on the spectrum of helping others!
What's next for you?
I have an exciting new release that's actually coming out in August! Keep your eyes peeled for more updates on that one!
