The Nyc-based artist wants you to live in the moment for a little while enjoying life.
Some people thrive in the expansive realms of art, music, and self-expression. For singer-songwriter Logan Avidan, although she’s already made a successful career in front of the camera, she’s shown just as much talent in the studio. Although the harsh reality of the camera and its ability to capture nuance and blemish might be unnerving to most, Avidan has instead impressively converted it into a portal for self-discovery, which further fuels her artistic genius. With her debut solo album, “Hot and Bothered,” on the horizon, she’s been blazing her trail in the music scene with great vibes and even greater sounds.
Avidan’s musical influences are as diverse as they are daring. Drawing inspiration from Courtney Love, Mazzy Star, Lana Del Rey, SZA, and Fiona Apple, she’s woven a rich musical tapestry that infuses meaning and emotion into every line. Although she pays homage to her eclectic influences, she’s definitely managed to make her sound her own, which is the product of her rare artistic ability and vision. A true artist to the core, although Avidan’s trained eye can instantly identify what will work, she also possesses the rare boldness to try what may not as well. By walking the line between the two, she’s pushed her artistic limits into the stratosphere, and we can’t wait to see how far her music can go.
The inspiration for Avidan’s latest single, “Left My Heart,” actually came to her in the middle of a flight. Upon landing, she shared it with co-writer and producer John Eatherly, who swiftly conjured a captivating chord progression on his guitar. Together, they turned Avidan’s inspiration into reality. Over dreamy instrumentals that instantly transport you to a dream state, Avidan’s vocals can only be described as hypnotizing. Dropping lyrics like “I left my heart by the river / It wasn’t the cold / That made me shiver” and “To make a dream reality is a dream,” Avidan quickly sweeps you up in her soundscape, making for an unforgettable listening experience.
“Left My Heart” is more than a song—it’s a manifesto through which Avidan implores listeners to cast aside their self-imposed limits and embrace the unknown. It’s a call to take risks, abandon comfort zones, and unlock the freedom from pursuing all possibilities. In a world fixated on the “right” timing and the “right” way, Avidan urges us to shed these concerns and dive headfirst into our dreams. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Logan Avidan! We love "Left My Heart," what an enchanting and dreamy release! What has been your favorite part of seeing your vision for this song and music video come to life?
Thank you! My favorite part was getting together with Cait Durra (the music video director) and picking the different characters for the video. I went to a store in the city called "Screaming Mimis Vintage" to shop for all the looks. I had such a blast playing dress-up and finding myself in each character.
As someone who has already found success in other forms of the arts, what do you think was the most challenging part of the transition to music?
There has always been an overlap, but finding like-minded people to work with and grow with was the most challenging part. Luckily, over time, I have connected with great, talented people who share my passion for life.
We know this is your musical debut, but what's been the most exciting part of your journey in music so far?
The most exciting part for me was that moment in the recording process when I first realized what the song was blossoming into. Sometimes it sounds just like what I heard when I started writing it, and other times it surprises me and takes me on a journey to unexpected places.
We look forward to hearing more from your upcoming album, Hot and Bothered! Please tell us a little about it and when we can expect it to drop.
Hot and Bothered will be dropping in 2024. The album is heavily inspired by the culture I loved as a kid. I remember watching these teen movies that sparked an excitement for life. There was this fantasy of what it meant to grow up: Boys, cars, music. Looking back, I know that life isn't necessarily like the movies, but tapping into that youthful energy has made the process so much more fun.
Can you share some goals you'd like to achieve with your music over the next few years?
My goal is for my music to be an instrument for learning and teaching. I also want to inspire that same feeling I had as a teenager, singing into my hairbrush in my bedroom.
Who would you say is your target audience? Who are you hoping to reach most of all if you had to pick, generally speaking? In addition to us, of course!
Anybody must be reminded that it's okay to feel everything you need while growing. Everybody messes up, and it's okay to own that and laugh at yourself sometimes.
Thanks for taking the time to chat with us! We're definitely going to be keeping our eyes on what you put out next! Anything else you want to say to your new fans?
