Matias Will Steal Your Heart With New Song 'Addictive'
Updated: Aug 28, 2018
Matias’ inspiration sparked after staying in columbia for a solid 9 months. He was able to experience Colombian culture and reflect on his life back home in the United States. He is a Colombian American, but never knew how to speak Spanish, however this did not keep him from his interest in Spanish Music. His EP encases what Matias is all about, which is to bridge people together. With his music, Matias intends to bring people together instead of diving them. Combining both cultures that he has grown up with, he brings American pop and Spanish music together.
First off, we're completely in love with Matias' newest single 'Addictive'. Matias has nice smooth vocals perfect for this mash of pop and spanish guitar. It has very interesting guitar instrumentals along with its mastered pop chorus. The chorus really sticks in the listeners head and you might even find yourself humming it while in the car or walking to class. It has a bright pop sound, but don’t overlook it because of its familiar sound. It has a somewhat darker twist to it than it may seem. This one is a top pick on your playlist hands down.
We had a chance to talk to Matias about his new song, his writing style and more.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
For sure my name is Matias I am a recording artist. I create Pop / Reggaeton crossover music.
Tell us a bit about your new song 'Addictive' and the writing style behind it
"Addictive" is my third single to release from this new project. The idea behind this song was to blend elements of pop, reggaeton and cumbia. This single along with my album was recorded in Bogota, Colombia. I spent 9 months living in Colombia spending time with my family and reconnecting with my Latino roots. This project allowed me the opportunity to integrate and interpret Latino music in my own kind of way. The process behind creating this work had a significant effect of my musical palette and really allowed me to explore a new side of my artistic ability.
Where did the inspiration behind the song come from?
The inspiration behind this song was derived from the idea of the impossible. I wanted to find a common theme in which the listener can relate to my message. Through the symbolic relationship of a man and woman, I wanted to show the process we all must pass through to achieve our goals and dreams. The woman representing the idea of success or the unthinkable goal. The man being the person trying to achieve this goal. Throughout the song I talk about what this man must be thinking before he approaches this woman and the feelings he is experiencing fear and doubt, but most importantly he knows he must seize the moment to talk to this woman. Like achieving our goals we are faced with uncertainty and fear but we know that to find true happiness we must surpass these fears. In the chorus I refer to the woman being addictive. The relationship I wanted to establish here was that this woman like the idea of the impossible feat is something beautiful, intimidating, and mysterious. Which in turn creates this sense of addiction, we constantly are trying to achieve success but does anyone really feel a sense of enough?
