Evol Walks is releasing a dirty, bluesy throwback to the rock n roll that sound that helped launched the career of this dynamic duo. The song name? “The Fire”. It immediately begins with that gritty bluesy guitar and bass tune they’re most known for before singer Leah Brown edgy vocals transitions in, creating a powerful and in your face brashful hit. “I am the fire burning, I am the fire and I will drive you insane” the lyrics match the badass, mildly chaotic vibes this whole song possesses. I love how it matches pace of the single, moving it in a rapid direction while Leah continues to propel the song forward with her raw, uncut, and deadly vocal resonance! “If you think you got me now, I’m going to take you down” Leah sings. The way I interpreted this is it’s a combative single, evoking the “Warrior” emotion inside of us to fight against anything we feel may be difficult or challenging to take down. Never giving up, and continuing to fight against the odds so you come out on top. Metaphorically, burning all of your opponents because as Evol Walks says it, you are the fire.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hi! I'm Leah and I am the Australian born vocalist and songwriter for the LA rock band, Evol Walks.
Can you give us a brief history of your bands career?
I formed Evol Walks in January 2014 after moving to Los Angeles from Australia. We spent that year writing and recording our first EP with Producer, Brian Howes (Daughtry, Skillet, Hinder, Hedley, Puddle of Mudd, Airbourne) and released the first single 'Heartbreakin' Woman' in the December of that year. 2015 was all about touring for us, we hit Australia twice, the Pacific North West USA and also parts of Europe where we played the Main Stage at Polish Woodstock. In mid-2016 we were signed to a management deal with Rick Sales Entertainment (Slayer, Ghost, Gojira, Mastodon) and have been in the studio working on this upcoming release ever since. Now, at the end of 2018 we are finally ready to release our second EP. We dropped the Music Video for the first single, 'Our Time is Now' co-written with Jake Pitts of Black Veil Brides on November 8th and are about to release the second single 'The Fire' on all streaming services on December 14th. Our EP is due out January 18th 2019.
How did you guys come up with your name? Is there a meaning behind it?
I love the band AC/DC... I'm an Aussie so that's pretty obvious. I always liked the rock stereotype of the "evil woman" that they all sing about. She's seductive and magnetic and she ends up stealing their souls. AC/DC have a song called 'Evil Walks' about a woman like that and I immediately thought it would be cool to own that. My Manager of the time suggested I play around with the title as I'm not actually like that at all so I came up with "Evol" instead- short for evolution OR Love backwards. To suggest that sometimes outward appearances or assumptions can be totally incorrect.
Do you guys write your own music? Can you tell us a bit about your writing styles?
Yes. Up to this point I have done all the writing for the band either by myself or co-written. When we finished this EP I started writing with the guys in the band so we're really looking forward to getting in the studio and getting out some group ideas rather than just mine. My writing style is pretty simple. Sometimes I'll have lyric ideas and I'll jot them down for later or I'll sit with my guitar and write a full song. Other days I wait until I go into the studio and just work with what the person I'm working with and myself feels. I love to collaborate as I feel it really pushes me to not be lazy and write more interesting music- stuff I wouldn't usually think of.
We’re really into your new song 'The Fire"! Can you tell us a bit about it?
I co-wrote 'The Fire' with a really well known Australian musician and songwriter, Tim Henwood, in September 2017 back in Brisbane, Australia. I was digging that cool, dirty, bluesy rock vibe and I wanted to write something simple yet catchy. I wrote from the perspective of the "stereotypical woman in a rock song". She knows you dig her and she's warning you that, if you want to go there that's cool but she's going to drive you insane and take you down with her. I always like to write from a character's perspective. Its kinda fun and adds an element that wouldn't usually be there otherwise.
Where did the inspiration behind the song come from?
I'd been listening to a lot of dirty blues and some of the newer bands who were doing it. I love the way the husky vocals and the swampy guitars. I just wanted to write something cool like that.
Any upcoming shows? For someone who hasn’t seen you live yet, how would you describe your performance?
January 15th 2019 at The Viper Room for our EP launch! We have also locked in Edge of Paradise and waiting on confirmation from a few more bands. Our performance is loud, very loud, and very energetic. We love to interact with the crowd and get everyone moving and enjoying themselves.
What’s next for Evol Walks in 2019?
Kicking off the year with our EP release, getting some more music videos made and then hopefully going on tour!!!
