Congratulations on your latest release, “Black Girl Magic.” What makes you passionate about Afrobeat? Out of all rhythms, what do you find in it?

Afrobeat is like a heartbeat; it's more than just music. It has this vibrant energy that instantly connects people regardless of their background. The cultural significance it carries is monumental. For me, it's like a sonic melting pot that blends various musical elements such as jazz, funk, and traditional African music. That fusion is not just special - it's priceless. It's like carrying a piece of home, history, and future all at the same time.

We love your background and the culture that you work to represent. If you had to describe your culture in one word, which one would it be and why?

'Royalty' encapsulates everything for me. Our culture is a music, fashion, art, and lifestyle treasure trove. It's not just about living - it's about living richly, freely, and with a sense of pride that feels like royalty. Our heritage has contributed so much to the world; I feel it's my duty and privilege to represent that.

What was your intention behind “Black Girl Magic?” What's the message you'd like people to take away from it?

'Black Girl Magic' is more than a song; it's a movement. It's an empowering and celebratory anthem that spotlights Black women's strength, resilience, and sheer beauty. My intention is more than just reminding Black women of their worth. It calls on society to recognize, honor, and celebrate them. They're not just special; they're phenomenal and deserve the world.

Can you share an unknown fact about your career with us and our audience?

Here's a fun little secret: My first stage name was 'Young Papi' in 2015. I guess we all have our phases, don't we? It reminds me of how far I've come and the journey ahead.

What's next for you?

I have a lot on my plate and couldn't be more excited. More music is in the pipeline, which I can't wait to share with the world. Also, I've got shows lined up around the globe. I might be coming to a city near you! And keep your eyes peeled for my merch; it will be something special that truly represents what I stand for.
