Phoenix-Based Four Piece Viper Club Make Impressive Debut With “Beatrix”

Viper Club is a cinematic, modern rock force to be reckoned with. In 2019, the band of brothers and friends united to write and perform high energy rock and roll. The Phoenix-based four-piece is led by Jack VanDerPol, who delivers high powered vocals and channels the on-stage charisma of the quintessential frontmen from the 1970s. Jack is joined by his younger brother and drumming phenom, Nate VanDerPol, long-time friend Carl Gumpert on bass, and the swoon-worthy, Nick Torri on guitar. Viper Club delivers on their promise to keep rock and roll alive with their well-scripted lyrics, expressive vocals, and electrifying guitar riffs.

Viper Club has released their debut single "Beatrix," inspired by the gritty, highly stylized Quentin Tarantino film Kill Bill. Introducing themselves as a band with a clear love for rock throughout the ages, Viper Club presents an indie-rock and slightly Brit-pop-inspired soundscape. “Beatrix” features cascading guitar riffs, a raw drum line, and a boy-next-door vocal that’s as smooth as it is gritty as it moves through the story-line. Then you get the lyrics that are consistently developing the melody. On the whole, “Beatrix” pours through with an air of classic familiarity, but this is a completely new story, new details and clever little lyrics reach out and appeal in an instant. Furthering their ode to the cult classic, Viper Club's name is a nod to the assassin squad in the film. A fantastic song, thoughtfully arranged, lyrically fascinating and refreshingly original and honest. It also confidently brings back that authentic rock sound with the riffs and the energy and the freely expressive set-up.“Beatrix,” was recorded at the world-famous Palmquist Studios in L.A. and with an all-star cast of contributors, like Emmy Award winning Producer, Jim Roach (Ninja Sex Party, Starbomb), Mixing Engineer- Thom Flowers (Steve Perry, The Ataris), and Mastering Engineer- John Greenham (Billie Eilish, CHON).

Hey Viper Club, welcome to BuzzMusic! Tell us more about your approach to music, for our readers who aren’t familiar.

We try to make music that means something to us, in the hopes that listeners will connect with it as well.

Congratulations on the release of your debut single “Beatrix”! What does this release represent for you?

This release is really special to us. We feel like “Beatrix” is our first step into who we are as a band. No one tells you how long it takes to find “your sound” or “your thing” and I feel like we’ve just now finally done that with this one.

What do you hope your listeners will take away from this song?

It’s my hope that our listeners can use Beatrix to just get away for a bit. The song is about a movie, it’s not too heavy to grasp emotionally and that was the point. It’s meant to be a 2 minute and 50 second mental vacation.

Do you have a longer project on the way?

My brother Nate and I have been writing music for this record since last November. There’s definitely a longer project on the way but I don’t know how far out that is.

Do you have any upcoming events or shows you’d like to talk about? What’s next for Viper Club?

We’re lucky enough to have the opportunity to debut Viper Club at Pop Culture Music Festival on September 28th. We’ve been working super hard on our set and our stage design to make sure we deliver an unforgettable performance.
