Skinperiod is an upcoming experimental hip hop/industrial fusion band that consists of
band members Brin Stephens, Krist Love and Michael Caver. The band is inspired by bands
in the mid 90s. Brin and Michael have been writing songs together for ten years with the recent
addition to vocals and writing in Kristi Love. The band’s first EP and demo “New State of Mind” was released in early 2018 which is also followed by a new direction in sound called “The Fire”which is available on all major streaming platforms.
Skinperiod brings us an interesting mix of an angsty electronic fusion of hip hop and
industrial EDM. The track is very moody and somewhat dark with a vibing electric guitar slide.
This is perfect for your playlist, especially if you enjoy SIMP music. The vocals are very sultry
and gritty which takes the listener into the world of Skinperiod. Nine Inch Nails, is definitely an
influential sound for this band, yet they are still able to bring something new to the table.
Make sure to check out “The Fire” and their new EP on Spotify.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hello, I'm Brin Stephens. Skinperiod is a collaboration of acts featuring Kristi Love, Michael Caver & Myself.
Can you give us a brief history of your musical career?
Skinperiod is an industrial band that was formed as a solo act in 2008 mainly focusing on instrumentals and demo EPs until 2018 when I released New State of Mind. This marked an end to the old incarnation of what I wanted Skinperiod to be and allowing it to become something more than myself.
How did you come up with your name? Is there a meaning behind it?
I wanted something that would stick out. Something that might make you think to yourself, "wtf is that?" but enough to intrigue. To me it means"shedding your old skin".
Do you write your own music? Can you tell us a bit about your writing style?
We do write our own music, however I'm always up for a cover or two! Any suggestions? Haha but yes I primarily write & record the music. Kristi sings and spices up the ideas I'm having and Mike gives us the ok as well as providing his own ideas. I like to subtly reference things I love and just like to write lyrics that I feel will fit the music. I believe Kristi has just been able to deliver them in a way I would not have.
We’re really into your new song The Fire! Can you tell us a bit about it?
Thank you! The Fire is the title track off the our second album The Fire which is available now on all major streaming services. It was actually the first song Kristi and myself recorded together. I knew from the beginning I wanted female vocals on it and had tried to record it myself but it wasn't where it needed to be.
Where did the inspiration behind The Fire come from?
Musically it's inspired by, of course, Nine Inch Nails and various Industrial groups but also Led Zeppelin, Jefferson Airplane, Massive Attack, Portishead and there's even a star wars reference in there too.
What are three things you’d love your fans to know about you?
There's nothing better than to be able to connect and reach out through music. I just want you all to be able to relate and be entertained.
Video games are my second passion. Would love to make music for video games.
The Fire is available now on all major streaming services! Share it with your friends.
Any upcoming shows?
At this moment we are aiming to do shows starting early 2019.
For someone who hasn’t seen you live yet, how would you describe your performance?
To be honest this will be new territory for us with the inclusion of Kristi on vocals but it will be energetic and loud!
What’s next for you?
We're recording more music at the moment and hope to start rehearsing for shows after the holidays so please, stay tuned and follow us on social media for weekly updates! There will be more to come!
