Notche is an experienced music producer and singer/songwriter making waves in the music industry. His upbringing ranged from Montreal, New York, to Denver, which gives Notche a diverse quality to his sound. Through his music, Notche aims to deliver some sort of message to the listener. Whether that message is love, violence, hope, or faith, he always wants to create relatable content for his fanbase. Speaking of Notche’s fans, his new self-titled EP that released in September has gained over 500k streams on Spotify alone. The project delivers 8 original songs from the artist, including my personal favorite “Which One 2 Luv”, I’m calling it now that this will be the next club anthem going into 2020.
Notche is driven and ambitious and never shows signs of slowing down. The songs laid out on his new EP prove that Notche poured his heart and soul into this release. Along with being an incredible solo artist, Notche has had the opportunity to produce for top musicians, including Denver's own hip-hop star Trev Rich which allowed him to take his creativity to the next level. He’s definitely leaving his mark on the industry and we’re always looking out for more new music from Notche! Check out Notche’s most recent music here.
Welcome back to BuzzMusic Notche! Congratulations on the release of your self-titled EP, how has it been received by your fanbase?
To be honest, I’m truly overwhelmed by how people are reacting to my music. I’ve received phone calls and video clips of people playing my music from all over the world. I’m truly thankful.
Who has had the biggest influence on your life musically thus far? Can you describe the impact this particular individual has had in terms of your song “I’m Blessed”?
The influence comes from everywhere. Gospel, Afro beats to Hip hop. Prior to working on my project, I was listening to a lot of Rico Love which doesn’t really reflect in my music because I wanted to showcase more of my own work. I’m blessed was more inspired by my actual life. I’ve finally reached a point where I could appreciate my blessings and bless others.
What are some of your ultimate goals as an artist? Are any of these goals currently being put into place/being worked on?
I would like my music to reach bigger markets and playlists. I want my music to play on the radio regularly. Getting on the billboard is a big goal of mine. I actually always wanted to have the top 5 songs on the billboard. One day it will happen.
We absolutely love your latest release! What predominant message was integrated into your Notche EP? Can you tell us more about the concept as a whole?
Thank you for loving my project! It means a lot to me. Prior to my dropping “Notche” I was working to find my own sound. My little Chanel was my biggest critic but once I was able to convince her, I knew the world would love it also. The EP was supposed to be released in the summer, I wanted to drop Baecation music lol I created my own genre which I call CCT Congolese Caribbean Trap.
You seem to be an artist that puts more thought into their lyrics than most. What can you tell us about the lyrical depth within “Expired”?
Expired! I wrote this song 2 hours before The great Nipsey was pronounced dead. I will always remember this record. Expired is really about my past relationships, we all have that one person that doesn’t believe that we are over them, they always try to find a way back. Sometimes you just have to tell them that they are expired lol
Thank you so much for talking with us about your new EP and creative process. Can you describe how your performances feel?
My performance is very animated, I put it all on the stage. I want people to feel how I felt when I recorded the songs.
Do you enjoy live shows, or do you prefer the actual songwriting process? Also, any live shows coming up in the near future?
I preferred the songwriting process. Coming up with different melodies and sounds is my favorite part. We are currently working on joining a few Afro beats artists on tour. AfroB is going on tour soon so we will be joining him.
