We loved "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead," we had to ask! What was the inspiration behind this release?

Thanks for having us here! The inspiration behind this release was to showcase the innate desire we all share to win and accomplish things. Transcending our self-imposed boundaries and doing whatever it takes to get where we want.

We wanted to inject confidence and positivity into our fans because this is the state of mind that Joe, Troy, and I maintain as often as possible. We all have been through times when we pull all-nighters to work, study, exercise, practice something new, compete, etc... This song is for those people. The hustlers, the grinders, the go-getters.

What was your favorite part of the creative process of bringing "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead" to life?

My favorite part of the creative process was how free-flowing the creation of the music and lyrics was. Marty, our producer, and long-time collaborator, brought in the chorus idea - that's all he had - and as soon as the chorus finished, I just spontaneously started humming "dead in the water ..."

He gave the classic "stank face" that musicians give when they like what they hear, and that was my cue just to go ballistic lyrically and performance-wise. We finished writing that song in a day or two. Songs are like babies - sometimes they are a pain in the behind to get out of you, and sometimes it is smooth as butter; this one came out silky smooth.

What does music mean to you?

Music is more accurate than life itself. It is an expression of emotion so profound that words seem pale by comparison. To me, music is a therapeutic experience - sometimes, all we need to know is that someone out there is experiencing the same emotions as we are to feel okay., even healed.

Whenever I got rejected by friends, girls, or teachers at school, I didn't care because I knew I could turn on Pantera, Metallica, Nickelback, and Blink 182 as soon as I got home and express my frustration by playing the drums or blasting music as loud as I could. Explain how audio could serve as such a powerful and valuable escape. It doesn't make sense if you sit there and think about it. Music is among life's highest pleasures, a gift from God and the universe.

What would you want it to be if your listeners could take one thing away from your music?

Confidence and empowerment ALWAYS trump learned helplessness, despair, and victims. One of the most significant issues I have with modern-day music is that all too often, Artists choose to focus intensely on negative things, like how sad they are, how depressed they feel, how anxious they are -- to a level that it feels like they are trying to pander to an audience because they know it is often easier to connect by focusing on bad stuff than good. Autumn Kings is the absolute antithesis to this way of thinking.

We are about confidence, opportunity, excitement, intensity, winning, victory, swagger, and an unbreakable spirit. A commitment to your ancestors and bloodline to do better. Unity, brotherhood, community-building through altruism. Exercise, sunlight, good friends and family.

We acknowledge and accept our emotions, regardless of whether they are pleasant or unpleasant - and let me be clear, it is perfectly normal to feel sad, stressed, anxious, and depressed at times - but it never has to become our identity. Our music speaks to the choice to move forward and conquer your doubts regardless of your circumstances and how you feel.

What's next for The Autumn Kings? Can we expect to hear more new music soon, and is there anything you want to say to your fans?

Lots of new music coming soon throughout 2024...And it is our best music by a long shot. We've leveled up our energy, lyrics, melodies, production, and delivery. Get ready, AK Army. It's about to get wild.

To our fans - we love you, and we see you. We've been getting a ridiculous amount of messages from all over the world (Germany, Mexico, Poland, Romania, Sweden, Spain, Canada, USA, and MORE), and we can't wait to get to you guys sooner rather than later. Stay tuned... It's about to get GOOD!
