Welcome to BuzzMusic, Yafania! We loved “Front Row,” what an amazing debut! We had to ask, how does it feel to have your debut out? It’s the start of your artistic journey!

Glad to be doing this with BuzzMusic! I love reading the featured artists on your page. Releasing my debut song, “Front Row,” feels like I just sent my first-born kid off to their first day of preschool, hoping they’ll make friends on their own. But honestly, I’m so excited that Front Row is out now, and I can't wait to share more upcoming chapters with the world, too.

What was your favorite part of the creative process, both for making the song and the music video?

The verses and bridge of Front Row were written during and in between classes I took at the time of the writing. One of those classes was a philosophy class I didn’t think would inspire me when I registered. We were delving into Plato's allegory of the cave, and the first line of the bridge, 'Rise like the sun’s light and leave them to their shade,' kept echoing in my head. It's funny how those moments of inspiration can pop up in the most unexpected places, right?

As for my first music video, I learned a lot from working on ‘Front Row’. I approached director Said Khallaf with a very rookie shot-by-shot of the entire concept for the music video, and I was surprised to find out that my draft wasn't so rough for a Pinterest girl after all. I was lucky enough to work alongside a strong filmmaking team that brought my vision to life, making the music video look as good as, if not better than, what I had planned on paper. The filming days were so much fun, and being there with everyone on set was like watching my imagination come to life right before me.

What does music mean to you, and what inspired you to seriously pursue it?

Music is the ultimate form of storytelling because it’s universal - everyone wants new music. As a storyteller at heart, I’ve always believed music is the best way to share stories because both the instrumental and lyrics of songs serve as a narrative for the person writing. Then, it gets released to listeners who deeply feel the narrative is theirs. That connection between an artist and their audience is why I do what I do.

If your listeners could take one thing away from your music, what would you want it to be?

If my listeners could take one thing away from my music, I’d want it to be the reassurance that it’s okay to be vulnerable and to feel deeply. Emotions are what make us human, and my songs are here to remind everyone that it's perfectly okay to embrace and express them, no matter how tough things get.

What’s next for Yafania, and is there anyone you’d like to shout out to?

This summer is jam-packed with upcoming song releases that I’m excited to share with everyone. I want to thank my incredible team, from the music side to the filmmaking side, for helping bring “Front Row” to life. They’re also still by my side as we work towards releasing my next song, which is still under wraps but will be the next chapter released next month.
