Welcome to BuzzMusic! Can you start by introducing yourself to our readers? How did you know you wanted to start making music?
Yung Hop here checking in for the one time. I’ve been rapping for about a year now so its really cool that BuzzMusic wanted to do a piece on one of my songs. I started rapping because I was bored, and always had a way with words, so why not translate it into music. I have always been a big music fan. My favorite artists of all time are Lil Wayne, The Game, and Lil Uzi Vert.
“Kickback” is a dope track! What inspired it?
To be honest, I was just bored one night and wanted to make a remix for my song “House Party”. The hook was the very last thing I wrote on the song. That came to me one night when I was working on cover art with my friend for another song, and we were airdropped a flier for a kickback. Coincidentally, I was also listening to beats at the time so I just started freestyling and the hook kinda just caught on and stuck with this one beat. That was when I knew I had a hit on my hands, everything just seemed to line up like it was meant to be.
What’s the hip-hop music scene like in your hometown?
Originally there was only 3 main underground rappers. D Guapo, 3300 Breezy, and I. We created the wave for our hometown and since then its picked up, but all the new people just sound the same, and lack originality. I feel that I’ve created my own sound and have found my niche to differentiate myself and stand out from the crowd as I am 1 of 1.
What would be your dream venue to perform?
Most people would say a big music festival like Rolling Loud or Coachella Fest. Personally, I’d love to perform at a nightclub or even a stripclub in Vegas. Either or will for sure get turned out and be a movie.
What’s next for you?
It’s really just up from here. I strive off constantly trying to improve and evolve my sound. We are halfway through 2019 and I have already out done my streaming numbers from last year. As much as I boast about being the King of the Coachella Valley, it is because I do the numbers to back it up. I am still a long way from where I want to be, but I know with consistent and constant hard work I will reach my goals.
