AbbiA Returns With “HIGH ANYMORE,” a Bold Pop Anthem About Taking Back Control

Bronx, New York-born and raised pop artist AbbiA is officially breaking her musical hiatus with the release of “HIGH ANYMORE,” a gritty new single that explores heartbreak, complicated relationships, and the importance of reclaiming independence.
Following her debut anthem “STAYING INSIDE,” the release introduces another side of AbbiA's artistry, bringing together her genre-bending influences in pop, rap, and rock with an unapologetic approach to songwriting.
Inspired by a friends-with-benefits situation that became more frustrating than fulfilling, “HIGH ANYMORE” examines the disconnect between wanting more from a relationship and refusing to put in the effort to make it meaningful. The song captures the familiar frustration of dealing with mixed signals, inconsistent expectations, and romantic connections that ultimately leave you questioning why you entertained them in the first place.
Rather than dwelling on heartbreak, AbbiA uses the experience to explore personal growth and the realization that emotional independence begins with recognizing what you no longer want. Her approach to storytelling reflects the complexities of modern dating in 2026, where defining relationships and establishing boundaries can feel increasingly complicated.
AbbiA hopes listeners leave the release with heightened self-awareness and the confidence to take back control of their love lives.
With an upcoming album currently in development and expected between winter 2026 and spring 2027, “HIGH ANYMORE” marks the beginning of AbbiA's next musical chapter, one rooted in independence, self-discovery, and creative expression.
HIGH ANYMORE” explores the frustration of a situationship where one person wants more without putting in the effort. What was the moment that made you realize this experience needed to become a song?
I realized that I’d had enough, broke up with the person because I felt I deserved better, and felt that it was a good idea to share that feeling with others.
After stepping away from releasing music, what inspired you to return with “HIGH ANYMORE,” and how has your perspective on songwriting and self-expression evolved during your hiatus?
I stepped away from music because I needed a break. During that time, I got married, got a new job, and had brain surgery. My life has completely changed, and for the better. I think I’m much more centered. I’m no longer concerned with what people think of me, and that translates into my songwriting quite directly.
Your music brings together pop, rap, and rock influences. How do you approach blending these genres, and what role did they play in shaping the attitude and overall direction of “HIGH ANYMORE”?
I don’t have a particular genre that I favor, but I write lyrically first, and then sense the mood, visualize the color, the sensory aspects of the piece. The genre is applied more at the end. I don’t think I’m defined by any one genre. It might be an obstacle for me at some point, but I appreciate this challenge. I don’t like being boxed in… I like being adaptable.
There's a strong message of independence and self-awareness throughout “HIGH ANYMORE.” What have your own experiences with relationships taught you about setting boundaries, recognizing your worth, and knowing when to walk away?
I’ve spent a lot of time becoming familiar with my boundaries over these last few years. My boundaries have been crossed in the past. Part of growing up and becoming an adult is living the way you choose and setting your own path… the lines you will and won’t cross, and the lines you won’t let others cross. I know my own worth at this point in my life, and nobody can take that from me.
With a new album expected between winter 2026 and spring 2027, how does “HIGH ANYMORE” introduce the next chapter of your artistry, and what can listeners expect from the music you're currently creating?
I think the next chapter will sound a bit more grown-up. It’s a bit different. Less angry at everyone and more direct in the stories I’m telling. We’ll see what you think when it comes out! I really hope that you’ll love it. I know I do already.
