A warm welcome to BuzzMusic, Aisyah. We adore the groove and alluring tones of your latest release, "Slow Down (Remix) [feat. Pisces Kid & Zalelo]." What pushed or inspired you to create a remix of your original song?
Thank you so much! The idea actually stemmed from when Zalelo reposted the original track to her story, with a caption that said, “Put me on the remix, YA’LL?” At this point, we’ve been following each other on Instagram for a while and have been keeping in touch, so I was really excited that she loved the track and showed interest in collaborating for a remix! The minute I saw her repost, I immediately said yes and we got right to work.
Seeing that you're a producer, did you tackle the entire sonic creative process yourself for "Slow Down (Remix) [feat. Pisces Kid & Zalelo]"? Or did you work alongside other producers during this process?
I produced the track myself while Pisces Kid and Zalelo recorded their vocal parts on their own. I actually have a walkthrough video on YouTube where I break the song down and talk about how I produced the track. You can find it here. I then sent the track to Pisces Kid for mixing and mastering to finalize everything.
What drew you to the stylings of rapper Zalelo when seeking an artist to feature on your remix for "Slow Down (Remix) [feat. Pisces Kid & Zalelo]?"
Zalelo’s musicianship is so versatile and captivating, and I love how she seamlessly blends her singing and rapping styles together. I thought her energy would also suit the song really well, as she’s always giving 110% in everything she does!
What was your collaborative process like when creating the initial single, "Slow Down (feat. Pisces Kid)" with artist Pisces Kid? Is this your first time working together?
Yes, it was our first time working together when we collaborated for the initial single! Pisces Kid is also a Bruneian producer and artist, so it was exciting working with someone from our home country. Since we’re both producers, the writing process was extra exciting because, in addition to thinking about the musical aspects of the song, we both thought about the technical production aspect of it too. The lower octave vocal delay effect that comes in during Pisces Kid’s verse was his idea, and it was a technique I wouldn’t have thought to incorporate for a song like this. My vocal production technique heavily involves a lot of luscious vocal layers, as shown during my verse, so I feel like I’ve obtained new perspectives and inspiration when collaborating with Pisces Kid to push my artistry and production skills beyond my comfort level.
What would you like new listeners to know about you and your music?
I am a Bruneian producer and singer/songwriter who loves combining ambient synth elements with my beat-making and luscious vocal textures. I tend to fall in the Alternative R&B or Pop R&B category. Music has always been constant in my life, a place where I go for my ups and downs whenever I feel like I can’t express it with the people around me. Whether I create songs of celebration, love, grief, or all the in-betweens, I hope my music can do the same for others the way it has for me all these years –– to be that shoulder to cry on during hard times, to celebrate amazing moments and milestones, or to help guide them when making an important life decision.
