Hi Alex, congratulations on your latest single “don’t turn out the lights”. Can you start off by telling us a bit about yourself?

Thank you so much! Of course... my name is Alex Kautz & I'm a 24 year old musician from Dallas, TX. I'm currently recording my FIRST studio album.

What is the meaning behind “don’t turn out the lights”?

Don't Turn out the Lights was written about a breakup. The lyrics 'break down the boxes, no this ain't no time for talking, let's make love on the bubble wrap...'  are dramatized, of course, but that's really what I wanted to happen during those moments. I'm proud of this song because it shows I'm capable of spinning negatives into positives.

What are you hoping your fans gain from listening to your music?

I hope my fans are inspired by my music. If you believe in yourself and work hard...the sky is your limit.

Where do you draw your inspiration from when writing your music?

Many places, but mostly from personal experience. My music is my truth. I'm a huge fan of pop music and am constantly inspired by superstars like Lady Gaga, Amy Winehouse, and lately i've been loving Troye Sivan!

What are you looking forward to this year in regards to your musical career?

I'm fortunate to be working with the amazing Christopher Lynn Shelton - who produces, directs, and brings my music to life. None of this would be possible without him! I'm looking forward to releasing more music, videos, and I LOVE performing live... so I'm very excited about that.
