Angel Sessions Brings us Old-School R&B with Groovy Single “The L-o-v-e”

With a longstanding career in the R&B industry, Angel Sessions has impressed her fans, yet again, with her inspiring new single “The L-o-v-e.” “

The L-o-v-e,” which was produced by Tizone Street, incorporates vintage aspects of R&B, Hip-Hop, and Soul, which brings the listener a refreshing soundscape.

Angel Sessions opens the track with the sassy question “y’all ready,” which prepares the listener for the groovy, R&B atmosphere that she is about to create. The backtrack consists of a low-key trap beat as the roots of the charismatic sonic experience that is “The L-o-v-e.”

Producer Tizone Street showcases that he has worked with the likes of Mary J Blidge, The Notorious B.I.G., The Braxton sisters, and Keith Sweat by incorporating aspects of old-school R&B and Hip-Hop.

With Tizone Street’s production including various electronic sounds layered within the subtle beat, he leaves room for Angel Sessions' vocals to take the spotlight. She easily wins over fans with her alluring and unique vocals that explicitly convey her passion and faith.

During each chorus, Angel Sessions is joined by a chorus of echoing background singers who create a sense of euphoria with their collective harnessed emotion. The dynamic background chorus adds a new dimension to “The L-o-v-e,” prospering from compelling Gospel elements that give the song its depth.

With lyrics that connect her listeners on a deeper level through a common journey for God’s glory, Angel Sessions has her fans eager to hear what else she has to offer.

Listen to “The L-o-v-e,” here.

We were enchanted by flavors of various genres such as soul and R&B within “The L-o-v-e.” What different genres influenced your musical style for “The L-o-v-e?"

Thanks for asking! My music genre for "The L-o-v-e," is Urban Gospel but with a hint of R&B. The message is about having Christ love in your heart and if that person has the love of Christ then it will show in their lives when they love one another. The song is a cross-over song so both R&B and Gospel stations can both play this record.

Are there any artists that have influenced your music style over the years? If so, how have they inspired your artistic choices?

Yes... Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Yolanda Adam, Faith Evans, and even my daughter, Shardella Sessions, are also my artists. When I sing, I love using all of my vocal arrangements like these artists I have mentioned. I have my own style, so when you're listening to any of my music, you know that's Angel Sessions.

What is one of the main messages you are hoping to spread through your lyrics with “The L-o-v-e?”

My message to spread from the single "The L-o-v-e" is knowing Christ and if he lives within you, show it. Because he will show up in your life if you truly have the love of God within your heart.

After over 20 years in the music industry, you have been decorated with many awards! Can you tell us about some of the most impactful awards you have earned?

Yes, I was honored to win the Bay Area Gospel Music Award, The Black Music Awards, The Billboard songwriters, twice in a roll, The Northern California Music Awards, The Akademia Music Awards, and many awards nominations including The pre-Grammy nominations.

What's next for you?
