Hey Ashley Woodruff, welcome back! We're completely captivated by your sound, you have such a strong and warming presence throughout your tracks. Can you tell us more about your intentions when you first began to curate your recent release “Clarity"?
Hey BuzzMusic, thank you very much for having me back! Also, I really appreciate your kind words regarding my music. Before I started writing Clarity, I knew I wanted it to be a piano ballad. Since my last release "Summer Love" was an upbeat song, I wanted to create a contrast between the two.
You've had such a strong love and passion for music at such a young age! How do you think you and your music have grown since you first started writing, versus now?
I think both myself and my music, have grown through life experience. Also, with the help of producer Rob Murphy, I've gained so much knowledge of the music production process.
“Clarity” is a beautifully stripped back piano ballad! How do the sentiments and sound behind this song differ from “Summer Love”?
As I mentioned, even before writing "Clarity" my intentions were to write a piano ballad, in order for it to be contrasting with my last release.
Along with the songs differing in style, the message behind each is completely different. While "Summer Love" is about getting into a summer relationship and wanting it to last, "Clarity" is about staying by someone's side through their struggle with mental health.
We know that you're a lover of integrating a variety of elements in your music. Would you ever incorporate contrasting genres into your music, or do you think it would ruin the type of sound you're attempting to reach?
I definitely love the variety! Back in 2017, I actually incorporated rap into my song, "By My Side". I would be open to mixing genres again for sure; it's a great way to switch things up!
Do you have any plans to release a longer project in the future?!
Along with the few singes released, I also have an album and a Christmas EP. I would like to release a longer project again in the future, but for right now I'm just focusing on singles.
It was great having you here on BuzzMusic! Tell us more about what's next for you after this? Any shows in the near future?!
It was great to be here, thank you again for having me back! I have a show coming up this week, and quite a few in December! A full list of shows is on ashleywoodruff.com.
