Welcome back to BuzzMusic Austin! What have you been up to since the release of your single “Close”?
So much music! I really feel like I have developed more in the past few months than ever before. I’m unbelievably pumped for the records I have ready to release!
We’re loving your new song “You Could Be”. It seems very personal and open, what’s it all about?
This song is about the first moments i had with a particular person. This is a declaration of the potential we could have together if she would give it a chance.
“You Could Be” has a strong lyrical depth to it! Do you always write in this manner? Do you ever worry about divulging too much through your songwriting? Or do you think it’s better to always be vulnerable?
A few months ago i would say be as commercial as possible so that everyone can grasp your music. Recently though, i’ve managed to find a balance of maintaining understanding and being an open book. I’ve come to realize my fans relate so much better when I let go and get REAL.
How do you remain on track to continue writing new content so consistently?
I have a weekly routine that i’m pretty strict about. As a business partner, spiritual leader, college student, athlete, and striving musician, I have a lot on my plate. I enjoy it though. having my hands in so many things that i’m passionate about makes me genuinely happy. Songwriting is throughout my everyday life. I write at the gym, come up with melodies while driving, and even write in some of my classes when they lose my interest.
Where is the best setting to listen to your songs, and what do you hope people take away from them?
I would say driving for sure. I’m not so pretentious that i think you HAVE to sit down and “absorb my art” but my music is more to reflect on when you have some alone time, play at a club, or just play it while driving to make the drive seem shorter. I want my music to add value to people’s lives. Whatever your interpretation is of my music, is totally cool with me. That’s really what makes it beautiful.
What are your main aspirations as an artist going forward?
I really want to build and expand my territory as an artist. I have millions of fans out there that haven’t heard any of my music, my job now is just to find them ;)
