Hey Banwo! Welcome to BuzzMusic! How did you get started in the music industry?

I got into the music industry shortly after graduating college. I released my first project "PrimeTime Ep" on August 4, 2017 and released my second project "The Remedy" during February 2018. These 2 projects helped me get attention from several label A&Rs to the point that I later picked up a management deal from Age Marketing LLC in Los Angeles. I am now ramping up for my debut album "TIDAL WAVES", in which I recently released the first single titled "She Ya Savage". This single has been a complete hit through out the summer and is getting plays in night clubs, Starbucks coffee shops, gyms and more.

Was there a specific event/person in your life that made you get into music/ start recording your material?

I have been passionate about music for as long as I can remember, but it wasn't until I got to college that I began recording for the first time. I met a fellow artist named Gallowayyys and we started making music together along with the rest of our collective "Just Great Sound". This was during college. I later graduated and bought my own studio equipment, which I used to record my projects.

Can you tell us more about the meaning behind the lyrics in “No Shame”?

"No shame" was written at a point in my life where I felt the need to make a statement. I wanted people to know who Banwo is and even speak on where the name came from. Theres a beautiful chorus on "No Shame" describing my lifestyle and bits of my personality. Listen to the verses and you begin to hear the passion for success and having the knack to do what ever it takes to be great. The chorus and verses tie the listener back to the song hook "No Shame" meaning not being embarrassed to say or do things other people won't.

Who are you musical influences and how do they help shape your sound?

My biggest musical influence would have to be Michael Jackson. My dad had one of his albums when I was a child and would blast it through out the house and give me knowledge on the story of Michael Jackson. I was inspired by Michael Jackson because I had love for music and I wanted to be great with music as well. I later got into Hip-hop and was impressed by Ludacris, Kanye West, Lil Wayne. I later became a huge lil Wayne fan and would constantly recite his lyrics. In my recent years I would say Travis Scott, J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar have been the major stars pushing the culture. Listening to them helped me find my sound and gave me topics to write about. They've all helped me be creative with my art.

What does “No Shame” mean to you? What do you want your listeners to take away from it?

No Shame means to me being entirely comfortable with oneself and standing tall no matter the shortcoming. I want my listeners to be motivated by the song and always believe in themselves even during the toughest of times, because there is always a way.
