The car might not be racing but what’s going on inside certainly is. This smooth, relaxing alternative track from The Citie has us unwinding to the mellow melodies they are laying down for us. “Let Me” has a dreamy summer time love feel to it; young love, the kind where your boyfriend just pulled up outside your house and you race out to his ride, carefree and ready to cruise the strip together. The track has a nostalgic electric keyboard intro that has a very ‘Bowie-esque’ feel to it, suave guitars fade in and out, and the vocals are airy and persuading.
The Citie is a band made up of three brothers (Adrian on guitar, Dan on bass and Jona lead vocals) based in Los Angeles, California. The brothers began playing music at a very young age, inspired by their parent’s classic rock record collection. Together as a band since 2011, The Citie have toured throughout the lower southwest and in 2018 they released their self-titled EP. “Let Me” is their most recent release but these guys are far from slowing down releasing a follow up project titled: “Dark Skies” due out this summer. Also on tap for the summer: a series of local shows and full tour within North & South America. “Let Me” is now streaming for your listening enjoyment!

Hi guys! Thanks for taking the time to speak to us! How are you guys feeling about your latest release “Let Me” being available for fans to listen?
Were very excited and happy to see our project come to fruition. From Spotify alone, the amount of feedback has allowed us to reach and surpass a personal milestone, hitting over 18k streams and 130 playlist’s. We’ve also seen a dramatic increase in engagement and praise on all social media. Very eager to see how things continue.
A band of brothers must be an interesting dynamic. Do you guys ever but heads in the creative process and who ends up in a head lock?
We definitely butt heads at times but ultimately we’re like you said, brothers. We’ve been through so much together and have learned how to agree and disagree. There have been times outside of the studio that we get a little more physical lol but once we get back in the studio, we’re dialed in.
Where do the ideas come from in your song writing process?
Experience, Experience, Experience. A lot of our material comes from our personal relationships, friendships and family upbringing. In 2014 our father was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer, this was a major turning point in all of our lives. Since then he’s been constantly fighting to stay cancer free. In the same year 3 friends of ours (one of whom just turned 19) were involved in a tragic car accident in Santa Clarita. Our life triumphs and struggles have and will continue to shape our material.
How has Los Angeles influenced your music?
Los Angeles is engraved in us, thus it’s also engraved in our music. Growing up here in Los Angeles has contributed to our free spirited souls and acceptance of all people. Around the ages of 10-13 we’d ride our bikes to Hollywood to meet cool people, make new friends and always go to Guitar Center to mess around with the new gear. We are a product of our surroundings.
What are you guys most looking forward to in the year ahead?
We’re looking forward to announcing a tour later this year, along with releasing more music and content. Currently focusing on creating and developing more visuals, it’s been an experience in itself. We’ll be continuing this year with collaborating with a multitude of photographers, producers, musicians and creatives. Stay tuned and keep an eye out for all that’s too come.
