Willow Raye is a pop artist and songwriter based out of Los Angeles, California. She began to write songs when she was in high school and is inspired by artists such as Halsey and Julia Michaels. “Deja Vu” is a single from Willow Raye’s forthcoming debut EP. As the title might suggest, the song opens in a dream-like state, with ethereal synths setting the stage for Raye’s voice. The vocals are uplifting, but also have a haunting, almost ghost-like quality. However, when the song picks up and the beat enters in earnest, the vibe completely changes from dream-like to a driven, forward moving sound. There is an elegant simplicity to the vocals that allow the beauty of the song’s arrangement to fully stand out. This is a song that uniquely encompasses a myriad of emotions in only a few short minutes. Willow Raye is definitely an artist to watch out for, and we look forward to hearing her debut EP when it is released!
