Catching Up With CSABA

Welcome back to BuzzMusic! We love your sound! When did you start making music?

Thank you for having me back!! The idea to "become a rapper" was born when I was super young, maybe 8 years old. Taking it seriously and applying myself to it though wasn't till about 17, and I'm 23 now.

Can you talk more about the lyrics in “Genie”?

Genie is a song expressing that even though I (we) go through bad relationships & bad times, we still need to have the belief that we're going to make everything we work towards, come true, regardless of the situation

“Champion” seems to have a diverse lyrical depth to it! What was the writing process like for this track?

This was one of those songs where the lyrics just poured out, I was "in my element" so to say. Of course, I went back and touched it up & made sure it sounded right and had the rhythm I wanted but yeah. It took an hour or two for the lyrics to be done and then a few days of tweaks before I recorded it. The lyrics are written in a way where I was also imagining the music video, which would be a Boxer theme. The overall concept of it is super simple though; if you want to win and be a champion, you have to put in the work and you have to fight forward.

If you had to pick just one song in your collection to adequately describe your sound, which song would you choose and why?

Oof, that's a tough one because I have never believed in "having a sound." It's basic and the artists cheat themselves that way, by staying in one bag all the time. I think versatility and experimenting are essential parts of being any type of artist, I'll never put myself into a box. To give you a bit better of an answer though, if someone asked me to play the 3 songs of mine only, to make them become a fan, I'd say YOU, Genie and Would You Rather.

What do you hope to achieve as a hip-hop artist through the end of 2019?

Just growth. As long as you're growing and learning & having fun, everything else is extra.
