Catching Up With TIËRNY!

Hey TIËRNY, welcome to BuzzMusic! We're so happy to be showcasing your debut single "Solid Ground" to our listeners. How did you initially get started making music?

Thanks so much for having me! I went to stage school and played the piano when I was a child, so the arts had always been a passion of mine, but creating music became the center of my life a few years ago. I was in a dark place and was reading and writing a lot of poetry, and in the midst of the madness, I befriended someone who inspired me greatly and urged me to turn my words into songs. Music saved me in so many ways.

You have an extremely unique vocal tone and musical style. Have you had professional training or are your vocals something you've honed over time?

For as long as I can remember I’ve always been able to sing, I was the kid on stage waving my arms around singing at the top of my lungs, I guess some things never change!

In terms of style I guess I’ve just been inspired by many different genres musically, and that’s reflected in my vocals. For me it’s more about connecting to the song emotionally and expressing how I feel.

Your lyrics are completely captivating, raw, and deeply personal. Do you ever worry about divulging too much through your music? Or do you think it's better to remain vulnerable?

All my songs are autobiographical and deeply personal, being vulnerable is scary, but I’m sharing my experiences, my thoughts and feelings my point of view, in order to connect with others who may feel the same. It’s incredibly important to be transparent, as a human being and artist, you must live your truth or life becomes futile

Tell us about the writing/creative process for your debut single "Solid Ground"? What was it like working with producer James Minas? How did your professional relationship come about?

Me and James @Minas met a few years back and have worked together for a long time, he understands my vision and we’re on a similar wave length creatively. I think it’s important to find someone who takes the time to understand you and Just gets it. I was lucky and I honestly wouldn’t be here without him.

In terms of process I write the lyrics and chords and then we build up the track together, James actually scored the strings on Solid Ground and they are so beautiful.

We're really looking forward to hearing more music from you! What can you tell our readers about your upcoming EP "Revelations"?

+Sex love death religion + I’m really looking forward to sharing it!! It’s been a long process, but I didn’t want to rush and compromise my art. It’s a four-track EP, and it’s a mixture of genres, but if I had to sum it up it would be a compilation of modern alt-pop sensibilities and more classical baroque elements. I call it ‘Baroquetronica’. Every song is a different story and that’s emulated in the production. I wanted to create four stand-alone songs that culminated into a body of work that was authentic and I could be proud of

You have so much natural talent and clearly a long career ahead of you! What are you most looking forward to in the coming months?

I’m releasing another single soon and I Have a few gigs lined up. I recently supported Canadian artist @lydia.ainsworth on her UK tour  And will be supporting @Stealingsheep in December so lots to look forward too! You can follow my socials @iamtiernyb for updates on what’s going on in between but mostly I’ll be working on the second EP  Thanks for the lovely comments and questions it’s been a pleasure!
