There’s something beautifully reckless about a man who knows exactly where he belongs, and for Dave Lenahan, that place is the barstool. His latest single, “Die on This Barstool,” isn’t about giving up; it’s about giving in to the moments that make life worth living. The friends, the laughter, the heartbreak, the jukebox that always seems to know what song to play next. It’s raw, funny, and real.

From the first note, “Die on This Barstool” drops you straight into a small-town honky tonk on a sticky Friday night. You can smell the whiskey, hear the clinking of bottles, and feel the easy chaos of a place where everyone knows your name. “These spirits got my soul feelin’ just right, here in my home away from home,” he sings, part confession, part celebration of routine and comfort.

Lenahan’s sound lives between Nashville polish and Buffalo grit, channeling both Midwest rock and Americana soul. His voice carries the weight of a man who’s lived it, not just written about it. The hook hits like a toast to every regular in the room: “This happy hour heaven never gets old / these hardwood floors are my streets of gold.”

It’s an honest, unpretentious country, the kind that feels more like truth than performance.

A Buffalo-born, Cleveland-raised, Nashville-based songwriter, Lenahan’s no newcomer. He’s a radio veteran, host of The Songwriter Connection podcast (which won Podcast of the Year at the 2024 Elite Music Awards), and a relentless touring artist. Following his debut Or Something Like That…, he’s prepping his concept record Absalom, produced by Grammy-winner Alan Sanderson (Fleetwood Mac, Elton John, The Rolling Stones).

But “Die on This Barstool” stands strong on its own. It’s a song for the working class, the dreamers, and anyone who’s ever found peace in a dive bar glow. For Dave Lenahan, this isn’t just country, it’s confession.
