Dip Into a Vulnerable State With Joséphine's Single "Replay"

Emerging Pop singer and songwriter Joséphine currently resides in Los Angeles, where she focuses on Pop and Jazz vibrations. Originally born in Tucson, Arizona, the presently LA-based artist uses her powerful voice reminiscent of past eras, adding a unique and modern twist to Jazz-Pop's world.

Grasping on the pulling emotions that are felt when tangoing with a toxic relationship, Joséphine takes it upon herself to dive into vulnerable themes in her most recent single, "Replay." In an Electro-Pop universe that trickles melodic synths and weighty drum patterns, the angelic reverberations of Joséphine's vocalization allow you to become fixated on her fusion of sultry crooning meets empowering themes.

A force to be reckoned with, the artistic versatility that Joséphine delves into contains elegiac songwriting that reflects on her Middle Eastern roots. Pushing the envelope for first-generation Persian-Americans, Joséphine embodies poise and compassion in the tenors she sheds. Transporting us to heights we have yet to reach, "Replay" produces an undeniable atmosphere that surges glimmers of confidence through our speakers.

Rich in intensity with the alluring juxtaposition Joséphine exudes, the golden hues radiate from her artistic canvas leave us breathless. As she continues to illuminate paths that have dark clouds hanging over them, Joséphine's prevailing tones carry enough soul to power spirits far and wide. Suppose you haven't familiarized yourself with Joséphine by now. In that case, we highly encourage you to take her empowering words to heart as you sink into your seat and appreciate the vulnerable themes that she effortlessly dives into.

Hello Joséphine, thanks for taking the time to sit down and chat with us at BuzzMusic. We love the vibes and message in your latest single, “Replay.” What inspired the vulnerable themes that you dive into in this record?

Thank you.I found myself in a place where I felt like I was constantly making the same mistakes.. dating emotionally unavailable people, self-sabotaging myself, etc. and so I wrote this song to help me forgive myself. It’s a self-fulfilling downward spiral of sorts when you get into that headspace so I had to flip the script. I had to be like okay I fucked up, it’s okay, I’m human, I’m learning. It was empowering to finally accept my decisions for the better. To acknowledge that each mistake brings me closer to myself and who I am meant to be. Having that compassion and forgiveness for myself helped me make better choices and be more compassionate and forgiven of others in return. So this one is for everyone who thinks they’re forever failing. I love the Churchill quote: “If you’re going through hell, keep going”.

Could you please share a glimpse of the creative and recording process that you experienced when bringing this song to life?

The process for this song was actually quite extensive. I wrote Replay 3 years ago and actually wasn’t even planning on releasing it, I kind of just wrote it off as one of those “practice songs.” I wrote it with Paul Water @itswaters @theonlytwiz and Paul produced it as well. He also executive produced my debut Ep Love Trap and is one of the first people who ever believed in me as an artist.

For you personally, how do you know when a song is complete?

I know a song is complete when I feel like I’ve given everything I can to that story. There are always those moments where you’re like “well what if I add this, or what if I add that,” but always just follow the feeling- that I gave everything I could to the song and the next concept will be for the next story. It’s always about the feeling.

What is the main message that you send to your audience as an artist?

The main message I want my fans to get from me is that vulnerability is power, honoring your purpose equals honoring yourself, and living authentically is the key to freedom. I want my fans to feel free to be who they are, share their stories honestly and unapologetically and be brave enough to shine their light, thus inspiring others to do so as well.
