Dive Into Vibrant Pop Emotion With Cjvd’s New Single, “Everything But The Rain”

Coming in hot from Toronto, Canada, is singer-songwriter and pop/R&B recording artist cjvd with his sweet new single and accompanying music video, "Everything But The Rain."

Turning to songwriting as a form of therapy as a teen, cjvd's music is influenced by the likes of Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, and Zack Tabudlo. The Filipino-Canadian artist uses modern pop sounds with tender R&B vocals to craft songs that balance poetry and melodies, creating truly immersive listening experiences.

In his latest single, "Everything But The Rain," cjvd dives deep into a past relationship and the emotions that linger, bringing his vulnerability center stage. But that vulnerability moves mountains, making the track highly relatable to anyone who's experienced love, loss, and heartbreak. Although emotional, it's a groovy pop banger that's sure to get your feet moving.

Expanding on "Everything But The Rain," the experience starts with bouncy pop synths and driving drums that lead into cjvd's smooth vocals, expressing post-break-up realizations and wondering where to turn next. But, alas, it's a bittersweet realization that speaks on giving someone your all, only for them to want more. And sadly, it's more than you can offer.

The way cjvd puts this experience into words is beautiful, and his upbeat production keeps our feet tapping while our ears are locked into his passionate performance. This radiant pop song is indeed a pick-me-up, but it's refreshing how cjvd infuses his vulnerable lyrics to make the experience even more compelling.

Welcome to Buzz, cjvd! We're head over heels for the relatable emotion and groovy feel of your recent single, "Everything But The Rain." What experiences inspired you to write this track?

Everything but the rain stems from my personal experiences of previous relationships that have fallen through. From lack of communication and simply expecting people just to change, Everything But The Rain reflects that our relationship will not work. It relieves me of grieving by taking everything else but the source of my pain (the rain).

What was your experience shooting the music video for "Everything But The Rain?" What was it like working alongside your co-stars, director(s), and team?

It was probably one of the best experiences I ever had! As this was my first music video, I had no expectations regarding the standard or criteria needed to create the best vision possible. However, thanks to Fatty Soprano, the team at Eye Studios, and my co-stars, it was a seamless transition for me to perform naturally and express the emotions this video needed.

Did any artists or projects influence the sound and style of "Everything But The Rain"? If so, What (or who) might have impacted that?

Justin Bieber, Lauv, and The Kid Laroi were the major artists who influenced the sound and style of “Everything But The Rain.” As the resurgence of synth-pop and the 80s returned in early 2020, I felt inspired to capitalize on not just a growing sound but to connect with a style that represents me and the emotions I wanted to express.

What was your favorite part about creating "Everything But The Rain?" Which part of the process did you enjoy most?

My favorite part of the process of creating “Everything But The Rain” was definitely finding the melodies for the verses and chorus. I take pleasure in creating something out of nothing and seeing the progress of a song that I initially wanted to simply have fun creating, seeing how it has impacted not only myself but the people around me. I take pride in and express gratitude for how far this song has come.

What did you want listeners to feel and experience when hearing "Everything But The Rain?"

What I want my listeners to feel and experience when hearing “Everything But The Rain” is to relate what they feel, whether it's betrayal, heartbreak, or loss of friendship/companionship - and leave that emotion here whenever you listen to this song. My mission as a singer/songwriter is to “create soundtracks for people's lives.” If “Everything But The Rain” can soothe a person’s emotions or take action on personal experiences, my purpose is complete.
