Emma Alves Displays Raw Honestly In Powerful Track “Lilac”

Emma Alves is an independent and talented artist from Vancouver, BC. On top of working a 9-5 job, she finds time to write, record and produce all of her own music. Heavily involved in the arts, Emma finds inspiration through all sorts of creative outlets including photography, paintings, fashion, and anime. She released 2 independent tracks in 2019; “Procrastinator” and “Lilac”. In earlier years, Emma saw successes on mainstream radio with her self-written song “Stranger”. Emma is currently working on her newest project, scheduled to release in fall 2019, stay tuned!

Emma Alves’ dark synth-pop “Lilac” features sultry bass and soft angelic vocals. “Lilac” tells a haunting melancholic story that gives us a retrospective look inside of Emma Alves’ emotive poetry. Simplistic yet stunningly diverse, “Lilac” can be interpreted in different ways. Emma Alves’ undeniably talented songwriting ability allows her to establish strong connections with her fans. To me, “Lilac” tells a story of adolescent struggle and uncomfortability. It’s empowering and self-aware all rolled into one track of musical brilliance. Emma Alves’ vocals are alluring and draw you in and demand to be heard despite their comfortable softness. We love what we’ve heard from Emma Alves so far! Stay on the lookout for this emotive songstress.

Welcome to BuzzMusic Emma Alves! Can you start by telling us how you got started in the music industry?

I started in the music industry at a young age. My parents always supported my love for music, and lead me to my first studio session at age 11. Here I am now!

We love your song “Lilac”! What is the meaning behind this track? What inspired it?

I'm so glad you guys like it! Over the past year, I've come to know who I am as a person, and who I want to be as an artist. I played the safe route and got a good nine to five job, but now am determined to put a higher priority on the things in life that I love. Lilac should be encouraged to interpretation though :)

What do you hope your listeners take away from your music?

Have you ever heard a song that moved you so strongly, you get butterflies in your stomach? I can only dream my music can do that for someone.

What challenges did you face when writing this single and how did you overcome them?

Self-doubt is something a lot of artists deal with. I am constantly learning to push aside self-expectations and focus on the creative process. There are so many people in this industry, just be yourself.

What legacy do you hope you leave in this world as an artist?

I want to inspire others to express themselves. The universe is subjective, and being an artist is an amazing way to showcase your personal view of this world.
