As an artist from Jamaica, my cultural background has profoundly influenced my music and style. Growing up in Jamaica, I was immersed in a vibrant musical culture that celebrated genres like reggae, hip-hop, and RnB. These genres have shaped my sound and become integral to my musical identity. Jamaican music's rhythmic patterns, infectious melodies, and storytelling aspects have all seeped into my artistic expression. Additionally, the Jamaican way of life, with its resilience, passion, and love for music, has influenced the energy and authenticity I bring to my performances and songwriting.

Can you share some insights into your creative process when producing “Drip?"

"Drip" was a collaborative effort that involved an exciting creative process. Imadh and I wanted to give Toronto a fun, energetic track to uplift their moods and get them dancing. When producing the song, I first started with a catchy melody that resonated with me. I then focused on crafting meaningful lyrics that reflected personal experiences and emotions related to self-confidence, empowerment, and embracing one's uniqueness. We experimented with different production techniques, vocal arrangements, and instrumental layers throughout the process to ensure the song's sonic richness and cohesion. It was an exhilarating journey that allowed us to bring "Drip" to life.

Which artists have had the greatest impact on your musical journey?

Several artists have had a significant impact on my musical journey. One of my biggest influences is Bob Marley, whose messages of love, unity, and social consciousness continue to inspire me. I'm also inspired by contemporary artists like Drake, Vybz Kartel, and PnD, who have successfully merged various genres and pushed artistic boundaries. Their versatility and ability to connect with diverse audiences motivate me to explore and experiment with different styles and sounds. Ultimately, I draw inspiration from a wide range of artists from Jamaica and around the world who have left their mark on the music industry.

What do you hope listeners take away from your music?

I hope listeners take away a sense of authenticity, relatability, and emotional connection from my music. I want my songs to resonate with them personally, whether through the lyrics, the melodies, or the overall vibe. I aim to create music that inspires self-reflection, empowers individuals to embrace their true selves, and encourages them to navigate life's ups and downs with resilience and positivity. Ultimately, I want my music to evoke emotions, spark conversations, and serve as a soundtrack for people's lives.
