Exhilarating Track “KO” By Hotwork Is Fully Dance Worthy

Chase Rossner, better known as Hotwork, is a singer, songwriter, and producer who was born, bred and based in Los Angeles, California. Matching with his classical training and years of guitar playing was his love of Hip-Hop and the LA beat scene that provided a real genre-bridging musical experience. Releasing an official remix for Spencer Ludwig’s “Diggy” in June of 2017, Hotwork has since released multiple other singles including a cover of Pharrell Williams’ “Happy”. “BLOW YOUR MIND” is his latest dance single that was licensed to the app Genies, backed by CAA, Shawn Mendes, The Chainsmokers, 50 Cent and more, for their debut launch video. Hotwork is currently working on his debut EP and the first single off the project is expected to be released later this fall.

“KO” by Hotwork featuring Dree Mon has a unique blend of sounds that mix Hip-Hop, Pop and a touch of EDM extremely well to create this hit track. Dree Mon’s voice has a beautiful rasp to it as she glides over each note gracefully and clearly articulates every lyric so perfectly. The lower toned vocals in “KO” compliment the sultry and sensual sounds of Dree’s vocals, and they add a touch of intensity to the lyrics “Knock me out”. I love that choruses and verses are separated by different melodies, and certain harmonies found scattered throughout. Hotwork has written lyrics that are descriptive, and the use of metaphors to get the point across is creative and each one blends together excellently. “I need you to pull, pull, pull me like a trigger” is just one of the many lines that stuck out to me personally and painted a great picture in my mind. If you like songs that make you feel tranquil, yet lively and up and dancing at the same time then “KO” is a song that you absolutely need to add to your playlist.

Hey Hotwork! Pleasure to chat with you! Can you tell us a bit more about yourself?

What’s up! I’m Hotwork. I’m from LA, born and raised, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. My real name is Chase, so if you see me at a show, say hey!

What’s the inspiration behind your ‘stage name’ and how did you find passion for writing and making music?

Haha it’s a pretty basic story. I was thinking of opposite names of bands to use as my name and landed on Coldplay. There you have it. The opposite of Coldplay is....Hotwork.

What inspired the unique, vibrant sound and lyrics of “KO”?

I drew big inspiration from Louis the Child and Flume on this one. I wrote this song with three other people. Most of the beat was already produced by the time we wrote to it, so we channeled the vibe and just rolled with it.

Was there a specific reason as to switching from doing cover songs to writing music of your own, and how was the transition?

I’ve really only done a couple of cover songs and I’d like to do more, to be honest! It’s a muscle I’m definitely trying to flex more in 2019. I’m a lot more comfortable writing and playing my own music. I’ve been writing songs since 2009 and pretty much everything I’ve released, other than my covers of ‘Happy’ and ‘LOVE.’, have been written and produced by me.

What new and exciting things can we expect to see from you in 2019?

I had initially planned on my EP being ready for a Spring 2019 release but It’s been a struggle getting everything finished, so I’m planning on a Fall 2019 release. I’m 85% finished with the project, and as soon as I have all the songs done, I’ll start playing shows again. It’s been a while since I’ve been out there, and I’m really excited to get my live set together and get back on stage!
